I originally created this design for a repeat customer on a lighter pink cup, so when she requested it on a sapphire blue one, I thought, ‘No problem! I already have the design ready to go!’
But as soon as the engraving started, I realized, ‘Oh no! No, no, no!’ The darker color created a high-contrast, negative-effect look that just didn’t work, and suddenly, this cup was ruined! 😭😭😭
Of course, this was a customer-provided cup in a unique color, only available through the manufacturer—so replacing it wasn’t as easy as ordering another from Amazon. To get it right on this darker blue, the design needed to be inverted for the contrast to look as intended.
Thankfully, this wonderful customer didn’t mind! She was incredibly understanding and offered to order a replacement cup on her own dime. She even sent me extra $$$ while I was recovering from surgery at the time to cover a meal or two—such a kind gesture!
Now, she can enjoy drinking from both of her custom cups. Talk about an amazing customer experience! 😊
