Toothbrush Abrasion happens over time with heavy brushing at the gum line. One starts to see a crevice forming in the tooth and the gum line receding . In extreme cases over time the crevice can deepen and the tooth become more sensitive. When the crevice breaks into the nerve chamber sensitivity gives way to pain as the nerve dies and it becomes infected. The treatment is root canal, post, and crown.

Avoid heavy brushing, use soft toothbrush, and switch to gel toothpaste which are less abrasive than silica containing pastes.

Tooth aches just get worse!

Tooth decay (cavities) progress without symptoms until they get to the nerve chamber. When pain starts it can be mild to constant throbbing aching. The options at this point are extraction or root canal crown.
Extraction just cripples your ability to chew and creates super eruption problems with opposing teeth. The expense can range from $200-$1000.
Root canal + crown is the better option. The nerve is taken out and pain goes away over the days-weeks following. Root canals range $500-$2000 Crowns $1000-$1500
The best way to avoid it is to go in for 6 month check ups with x-rays. Don't be afraid of dental x-rays. It would take 20-30 dental x-rays to equal what we naturally absorb daily from cosmic/ solar/ thermal radiation.

Millennial Brushing Habits, Bad Breath, and Tooth decay!

A new study into the dental hygiene habits of 2,000 Americans found three in ten millennials studied only brush their teeth once a day. Results also showed the average millennial surveyed has gone more than two days at a time without brushing their teeth at least once.

Plaque (bacterial colonies) cling to teeth with sugars they make specific for this attachment. They eat what you eat or what passes over their colonies. The end products of their metabolism are sulfur rich and acidic. Leading to bad breath as well as tooth decay. The plaques if left on for a while wil mineralize and become tartar/calculus which cannot be removed just by brushing where plaque can.

We recommend brushing twice a day to remove plaque before it becomes calculus and visiting the dentist regularly to keep your smile healthy and bright!
