To influence change positively and effectively in the lives of youth by providing guidance in life skills and education, while creating learning opportunities and developing coping skills that will aid in leading a productive life.

Key Duties and responsibilities:
Empower youth to resolve current issues and to develop coping strategies for the future.

Develop and implement therapeutic activities for mentees to release stress and build rapport.

Complete all required documentation, which includes but is no limited to, the tracking of all individualized behavior programs, discharge planning, progress notes, mentee plans, and all related documentation in compliance with FAPT, DJJ, and CSA standards.

Maintain weekly contact with mentee’s primary caregivers, school personnel, and other relevant health care professionals.

Schedule and attend meetings as required.
If needed, attend school meetings, court (CIS, IEP, child study, etc) upon approval Program Coordinator.

Acknowledge their strengths, talents, and gifts and encourage them to find ways to use them.

Provide a model for a healthy, trusting relationship through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries.

Provide transportation for mentees as needed.

Engage in activities outside of the home to help expose youth to new opportunities and experiences.

Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement when appropriate.

Complete all required documentation, which includes but is no limited to, the tracking of all individualized behavior programs, discharge planning, progress notes, treatment plans, quarterlies, and all related documentation in compliance with FAPT and CSA standards. Maintain weekly contact with clients’ primary caregivers, school personnel and other relevant health care professionals. Schedule and attend meetings as required. Attend school meetings (CIS, IEP, child study, etc) upon approval of Clinical and/or Program Coordinator. Attend bi-weekly meetings with both Chief Executive officer/Clinical Coordinator to review charts. Acknowledging their strengths, talents and gifts and encouraging them to find ways to use them. Provide a model for a healthy, trusting relationship through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries. Perform other duties as assigned. Engage in activities outside of the home to help expose youth to new opportunities and experiences. Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement when appropriate. The pairs will meet for 5-12 hours each week (36-48 hours a month) for 6-12 months. In addition to the bi-weekly meetings, mentors and mentees must attend a training session, a program kick-off, several interactive staff meetings and training sessions that will prepare them and supervisory meetings and annual continued education hours.

The meetings will take place at school, home, and in the community for mentors to establish rapport and build a strong foundation with their mentee over the period allotted to work with them
