Our Story
Money raised by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) stays in our community and helps save and improve the lives of sick and injured children treated at Carilion Children’s. CMN Hospital’s mission is to ensure our community’s children have local access to the best medical care available by supporting: • Child-focused medical services by physicians trained to treat children. • Specialized life-saving equipment for children’s smaller sizes - from the premature infant weighing 2 pounds, to the toddler and teenager. • Services to help children cope with their illness, hospitalization & treatments – Child Life Specialists, playrooms, emotional support, and education. • Emergency transportation 24/7, by ambulance and helicopter, of critically ill & injured children from 26 rural hospitals to Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital. Carilion Children’s is the only not-for-profit hospital in Southwest Virginia dedicated to serving all children regardless of their insurance coverage or family’s ability to pay. With the support of CMN Hospitals, each year Carilion Children’s cares for over 2,200 hospitalized children, completes 25,000 outpatient visits at its 17 specialty clinics, and provides millions of dollars in uncompensated health care services.
