Advance Funeral Planning: Free consultations to help families establish a file at the funeral home with vital statistics, biographical and survivor information; service and merchandise selections. We also have a prepayment plan, which allows you to take care of the financial portion in advance and have the cost for services and merchandise quaranteed at today's prices. Post-Service Follow Up Care: We have a staff member dedicated to assisting families after the funeral service. She provides helpful information for handling business affairs after a death occurs. This service is provided at no cost to the family. Group Presentations: Discussions with groups in our area concerning funeral services, care-giving and grief. Some are with nationally known speakers and many are provided at no cost . Our facilities are also available for group tours.

We had a good time at the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce Senior Expo today. Oakey's Vinton Chapel Manager, Larry Joines and Lorraine Cunningham, from Oakey's Advance Planning, enjoyed meeting local folks at William Byrd Middle School.

This free event featured over 75 vendors offering resources for seniors, caregivers, and families, including health screenings, assisted living, and community services.

Today was our Pre-Planning Lunch and Learn Seminar at Oakey's South Chapel. Our Keith Robinson gave a brief presentation titled "Curious About Cremation," which focused on the options available to you when you choose cremation in your preplanning. Then, participants toured the facility, including the Cremation Tribute Center. Later, everyone enjoyed lunch in one of South Chapel's event rooms. Ragnar has always held a special place in so many hearts, which is why we feel it’s important to share an update about his health. For those who may not follow him on Instagram or aren’t aware of the challenges he has faced since retiring, we’ve included a link below to a wonderful article written last month by Kevin Myatt in Virginia Tech News.

Ragnar means so much to so many of you, and we wanted to be sure you knew what he has been going through. Please continue to keep our sweet boy in your thoughts and prayers, along with Sam, Allison, Mitzi, Sammy, and Kenny.

When asked about Ragnar today, happily, Sam’s response was: “I’m glad to say he’s doing well right now and aside from the limitations that his torn ACL has placed on him, he’s living a normal life. He can’t hike and has to limit use of stairs, but besides that, he’s doing great and enjoying life. We’re so thankful for this time with him and pray it continues as long as possible.”
