A local family of five is navigating an urgent and deeply challenging health crisis. The mother, a stay-at-home parent, has been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer that has metastasized to her bones and spine. She is currently undergoing frequent chemotherapy treatments, which have significantly impacted her strength, stamina, and ability to manage daily household responsibilities.
The father is the sole source of income for the family and is balancing full-time work while also coordinating medical appointments, transportation, childcare, and household needs. As treatment has intensified, the family is experiencing growing physical, emotional, and financial strain.
This request is intended to provide short-term, practical support that helps stabilize the household during treatment, reduces daily stressors, and allows the family to focus on medical care and meaningful time together.
At this stage in treatment, regular transportation to chemotherapy is critical, and fatigue from treatment makes meal preparation, housekeeping, and routine tasks increasingly difficult. Without additional support, the cumulative strain on the family could negatively impact health outcomes, household stability, and the well-being of the children. These supports are designed to ease the immediate burden while preserving dignity and stability during an intensive period of care.
Requested Support & Items
Food & Nutrition Support
- Grocery items (prepackaged foods, snacks, easy-to-prepare meals) or financial support towards the purchase of grocery store gift cards to reduce cooking demands during treatment days.
Transportation Assistance
- Gas cards to support the caregiver/driver's frequent travel to chemotherapy and medical appointments. Transportation is currently provided by a family member, and gas cards would help reduce the financial burden of repeated medical travel.
Household Essentials
- Basic supplies such as cleaning products, paper goods, trash bags, and disposable cups or utensils to simplify daily routines.
Light Housekeeping Support (Volunteer Action)
- Assistance with tasks like dishes, laundry, light cleaning, or general tidying to help maintain a safe and manageable home environment.
Childcare Essentials
- Size 4 pull-ups for the youngest child.
Comfort & Emotional Support
- Comfort items such as a soft blanket, devotional or inspirational reading, simple crafts or coloring supplies, a photo album, or a heating pad.
Emotional Support (Volunteer Action)
- Brief phone, virtual and/or in-person check-ins to offer encouragement and connection during treatment weeks.
Any assistance will reduce immediate stress, prevent further crisis, and support the family through an especially demanding chapter. Thank you for considering how you might help. Your support can make a meaningful difference for this family when it matters most.
