Piedmont Community Services is working with an older woman in our community who is currently living without electricity or running water in her home. As winter continues, this has made everyday life extremely difficult. She is spending much of her time in the dark, struggling to stay warm, and unable to prepare warm meals or access clean water.
Living this way day after day takes a heavy toll. Sitting in the cold, eating cold food, and trying to get through long evenings without light makes it hard to stay positive or hopeful. The ongoing stress of this situation is beginning to weigh heavily on her, impacting her current health condition and increasing the risk that she may need emergency care if things continue without relief.
All available local assistance has been exhausted. A borrowed generator and limited fuel provided one night of light and warmth, but that relief was temporary. She also has pets she cares for and does not have another option for their care if her situation worsens or if she needs to leave her home for emergency services. Helping her stay safe and supported at home is important for her well-being and for preventing further crisis.
We are asking for help with a Power Pack: a collection of simple, practical items that can bring light, warmth and peace of mind during this difficult time. Any help with one or more of these items would make a real difference. Your kindness and generosity can provide comfort, dignity, and hope to a neighbor who truly needs it.
