Staff Spotlight: Kristian🤘
Our Head Setter, Kristian, has been climbing for about 10 years and been apart of the setting team at River Rock for 6👀

In his free time he enjoys listening to records and woodworking projects such as making climbing holds🪵

Fun fact about Kristian is that he loves watching documentaries🧐 ‘Doesn’t matter the topic’🧠

Best way to convince him to set you a personal project is by gifting him some chicken tikki masala😛

When asked ropes or bouldering, “Bouldering for life😂”

Ever wondered what it takes to climb outside? This introductory course covers some of the basic knowledge and skills required for roped outdoor climbing. We’ll go over crag etiquette, useful knots and hitches, setting up a top-rope on bolted anchors, cleaning (removing) anchors when finished with a route, and what gear is needed outside.

Participants must be 16 years of age or older and be top-rope verified in our gym. This clinic is $25 for members. $45 for non-members (day pass and rental gear not included). Registration is required as space is limited!

Disclaimer: our instructor is not a certified guide, just an avid outdoor climber with hands-on sport climbing experience and college coursework who is super excited to share some knowledge with you!

What is lead climbing? Unlike top-rope climbing the lead climber climbs with the rope secured from their harness and going directly to the belayer and not anchored to the top of the wall. The climber ascends the route, periodically clipping into quickdraws for anchoring. The lead belayer plays a critical role in supplying necessary slack in the rope to allow the lead climber to clip and then removing any extra to secure them. You must be able to climb at a 5.9 level proficiently. This clinic is $35 for members and $60 for non-members. Space is limited so register early at the front desk or through our website (Link in Bio)
