Over eight years ago, I started at the Council of Community Services as a testing and education specialist out in the community providing HIV testing and education. Today, as Director of Health Services, I’ve seen firsthand how life-changing this work is.

For over 25 years, our Drop-In Center has provided free HIV & Hep C testing, prevention tools, Narcan training, and connection to care across the Roanoke Valley. We believe everyone deserves access to care no exceptions.

Today, our work faces challenges due to funding cuts to both Ryan White and Prevention and Harm Reduction programs across the country and we need your help more than ever.

This work matters deeply to me and to the people we serve every day.

The Drop-In Center will be CLOSED this week as we move into our new location just down the street. We look forward to seeing you all when we reopen Monday the 13th.

Our office will be closed April 6-10, 2026, as we transition to our new space. We will reopen on Monday, April 13, at 325 Campbell Avenue SW - less than two blocks from our current location.

We're excited to bring all our services together under one roof in a space that better supports our clients, our team, and our continued growth.

Today we recognize National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

Women and girls continue to be affected by HIV across the United States and in our communities. Awareness, testing, prevention, and access to care are key to ending the HIV epidemic.

We encourage everyone to:
• Know your HIV status
• Support women and girls living with HIV
• Help reduce stigma through education and compassion
• Connect people to prevention tools and treatment

When women and girls have access to information, testing, and care, they have the power to protect their health and thrive.
