Honoring Our Unaccompanied Veterans 🇺🇸

Please join us as we honor our Unaccompanied Veterans—men and women who faithfully served our nation and are laid to rest without family present at their funeral services. These heroes deserve to be remembered, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure they are never alone.

Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, in partnership with the Bexar County Department of Military and Veterans Services, will host a memorial service in tribute to these veterans. Full military honors will be rendered by the Wednesday Squad, Memorial Services Detachment.

U.S. Army Veteran William Adrian Shepherd will be laid to rest on Friday, April 10th, at 11:00 a.m.

Emergencies can be just that, an emergency. Most of the time, when something bad or scary happens, your only option is to rush to an urgent care or emergency room. That's where one of the benefits of Hospice comes into play. Our clinical team is highly skilled and trained to manage many issues in the home setting, alongside our trusted vendors. However, there are some things we can't do in a home setting, such as fixing broken bones or applying stitches. If you're on hospice services and run into a complex situation, we advise you to always call the 24/7 phone line to be triaged by one of our skilled clinical team members. They can help determine the proper course of action by providing education and reassurance over the phone, dispatching a nurse to treat you in your home, or deciding that this is an issue better suited to be treated in an inpatient setting. During informational meetings, when our marketing team sits down with the patient and/or their responsible party, they often get asked a lot of questions about how Hospice works. This series helps share the education we provide to our respective families with you.

Our first FAQ, one that gets asked very often: Can I (or my loved one) still see their family doctor or specialist? The answer isn't straightforward, but we understand the importance of this question. More often than not, your physician is a trusted individual, and it can feel like choosing to utilize hospice care takes away that individual from you. That doesn't always have to be the case. Our team understands the relationships formed between a patient and physician, and we wish to respect that. According to Medicare, patients on Hospice Services can still see their family doctor (or specialist for an unrelated diagnosis) anytime they wish, as long as the visit doesn't pertain to the patient's admitting diagnosis their care.
