Another observance this month is National Caregiver Month. According to a 2025 study completed by the AARP there are 59 million caregivers in the Nation. Their study included an in-depth look at the finical, physical, emotional, social and other strains placed on the caregiver.

The main goal of Hospice is to manage the comfort and symptoms of their patient BUT the second area of focus is on the caregiver. These caregivers play a vital role in the well- being of the ill individual. Their sacrifices allow a loved one to remain in a home-setting, have their needs met, provide companionship and many other necessities. It is important a caregiver feels comfort, able and full-equipped to do what is needed/asked of them. Our clinical team is ready and able to provide the hands-on training and education needed to care for someone with a life shortening illness.

There are many local organizations available to the community as well. We appreciate their desire and willingness to serve our communities caregivers and provide them with assistance when needed. We’ve tagged some below, feel free to follow them as they often share great information or are a good contact to have handy.

Caregiver SOS, Silver Advocate Partners, Dementia Friendly Corpus Christi Initiative, mircareconsultants, Texas Face To Face, Coastal Bend Council of Governments, Coastal Bend Parkinson's Support Group

Part of our why: the Veteran population.

This community and group of individuals sacrificed much to keep us all safe. Years ago, we partnered with to provide our staff with the unique training and understanding needed to provide care to the Veteran population and equip ourselves with the information needed to help ensure they are receiving the benefits they earned.

This month we had the opportunity to engineer many fun and meaningful events. Pictured is the Veterans Day Vehicle parade, thanks to many individuals from a local group of off-road & 4x4 vehicles and our annual campaign. It touched our hearts to receive over 700 hand-drawn cards/letters from our younger generation and to see the big smiles on the faces of our veterans as they were celebrated in the parade.

This week's focus is on the care team and why we do what we do.

Devoted was founded with the mission of providing care to your loved ones, as we want our own loved ones to receive. Our outreach team works tirelessly to share their passion of providing access to quality hospice care through education. Thank you to our marketing team and intake staff for helping alleviate the misconceptions associated with Hospice care and providing insight on our unique approach to care and one-of-a-kind programs. We look forward to highlighting more of our staff this week, as we share with you all, our why.

This week's focus is on the whole-person care approach that we utilize to bring comfort, dignity, and meaningful moments to patients and their families. Throughout the week, we’ll share stories that show the real impact our care can have.

Since the inception of Devoted HHS, our incredible Spiritual Care team has provided our families with a special moment of remembrance. There is a time for prayer, a time to reminisce, and a time to light the candles of remembrance. This special event brings us all together and provides opportunities for healing. We are grateful for their passion to serve our families and help open the doors for continued healing.

Wishing a Happy Veteran’s Day to those who sacrificed so much to protect and serve our country. Here is a sneak peek of some of the cards given to us for our Annual Letters for Vets drive.

This week’s theme, “Beyond the Diagnosis,” celebrates the people we care for, their lives, stories, and the moments that matter most. Hospice care isn’t just about the illness. It’s about helping people live well and with their dignity. This drive is just one of the many things we do every year to care for our community and to focus on improving their well-being far beyond the physical aspects.

Thank you to tulosomidwayprimaryschool, Calallen High School Cheer, Grace Preschool at Grace UMC, Calallen FFA, Calallen Floral Design, and River Hills Baptist Church for your contributions. Over the past week, we have received some of the most gorgeous and thoughtful submissions.
