What is TMS — and could it help with depression?

In this video, Dr. Joel Young explains Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), an FDA-cleared, non-medication treatment for major depression.

TMS is:
• Non-invasive
• Drug-free
• Performed outpatient
• About 30 minutes per session
• No sedation or downtime

It works by using gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation — helping restore healthier neural activity.

TMS may be a good option for individuals who:
âś” Have major depression
✔ Haven’t found enough relief from antidepressants
âś” Prefer a non-medication approach

It may not be appropriate for those with certain implanted medical devices or a history of seizures.

Watch the video to learn more about how TMS works and who might benefit.

Supporting a loved one with depression can feel overwhelming.

In this video, Kelly Dahl, LMSW shares an important reminder:
You don’t have to fix the problem — just be present.

Helpful strategies include:
• Listening with empathy
• Avoiding quick solutions
• Encouraging professional support
• Helping with small routines like meals, sleep, or walks

Caregivers need support too.

Today marks the first day of spring — a shift toward longer days, softer light, and new growth.

The changing season can bring renewed energy, but it can also feel subtle. Growth doesn’t always happen all at once. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s simply choosing to keep going.

As we step into spring, consider one small reset:
• Spend a few minutes outside
• Open a window and let in fresh air
• Revisit a goal that matters to you
• Or simply allow yourself a moment of pause

Light returns gradually — and so does momentum.

Wishing you a steady, grounded start to the new season.

Some dates carry stories. Today, let’s carry calm instead.

Instead of superstition, choose stillness. Instead of fear, choose fresh air.

Listen to the wind.
Notice the light.
Let nature remind you that nothing about today is unlucky.

It’s just another opportunity to breathe deeply and move gently.

However you’re spending this Friday the 13th, may it feel steady, grounded, and peaceful.
