Help us give back this holiday season!

RCBM is proud to support TWO local initiatives to serve our community before the holidays:

1️⃣ Food Drive with Gleaners Community Food Bank
Bring nonperishable food items to RCBM if you're a patient, or make a monetary donation online. Every $1 helps provide 3 meals. 💙

2️⃣ Hygiene Drive for Teen Clean Closet
We’re collecting full-size, unopened hygiene items for youth and families in Oakland County. Drop off items like shampoo, deodorant, period products, toothpaste, and laundry supplies in our lobby donation box.

Together, let’s make this season brighter for those who need it most. 💛

📍RCBM patients can drop off food and hygiene items in our lobby through December
🔗 Everyone is welcome to donate online! Donate at https://bit.ly/4pnFSaj

Dementia is not one condition, but a group of disorders that affect memory, behavior, and cognitive function. At RCBM, we aim to support not only those living with dementia but also the loved ones walking alongside them.

Some of the most common types of dementia include:
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Lewy body dementia
- Frontotemporal dementia
- Vascular dementia
- Mixed dementia

Each presents differently, and understanding these distinctions can make a meaningful difference in care and support.

A small act of kindness can make a big difference.

Whether it's holding the door open, offering a genuine compliment, or simply checking in on a loved one - kindness has a ripple effect that spreads far beyond the moment.

At RCBM, we believe in the power of compassion - in therapy, in teamwork, and in everyday interactions.

Take a moment today to be kind to yourself and others. The world could always use more of it.

Stress is a part of life - but how we manage it makes all the difference.

In honor of Stress Awareness Week, here are 5 small coping tools to help you manage stress in the moment:

🧘 Deep breathing for 60 seconds
✍️ Journaling for 5 minutes
🚶 A short walk outside
🎵 Listening to calming music
📵 Taking a tech break

And a reminder from Taylor Drozd, LMSW one of our RCBM providers:
“Understanding that capacity is not equivalent to capability.
Just because you can take something on doesn’t mean you have to. Give yourself permission to rest."

Small changes can create big relief. If you're feeling overwhelmed, our team is here to support you.

Melissa Oleshansky, PhD, "Dr. O", explains that feeling "stuck" in therapy is not failure, but that you are on the right edge of meaningful change. Dr. O highlights three strategies to go deeper in therapy, including "saying what you are not saying", "get curious, not critical", and "change the rhythm, not the song". Therapy is an evolving process. It requires you to "lean in." "Stuckness" is not a problem but a portal to something deeper.

Men’s mental health matters - and at RCBM, we’re here to support it.

This , we’re raising awareness about the importance of mental wellness in men. Depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions often go undiagnosed in men due to stigma and silence.

Let’s change that.
Check in on the men in your life. Make space for real conversations. And if you’re struggling - know that you’re not alone.

RCBM offers confidential, evidence-based care to help men feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Did you know that in 2019 alone, 34 million Americans experienced weight discrimination, which is the unfair treatment of people based on the size of their body? This can have detrimental effects on health, as researchers have found that weight discrimination can lead to a nearly 60% increased risk of death. This is where the Health at Every Size (HAES) framework comes into play. HAES is an inclusive framework that aims to increase access to quality healthcare for people in larger bodies, thereby decreasing weight discrimination. Instead of focusing on weight-centric approaches for improving health, as current medical practices often do, HAES promotes the acceptance of body diversity, emphasizes factors that influence behavior change, and prioritizes overall well-being.

RCBM’s Medabolic Program offers a unique, multi-disciplinary approach to sustainable weight loss and overall wellness. Led by a team of psychiatrists, advanced practice clinicians, therapists, and registered dietitians, this program addresses underlying mental health conditions that may impact weight and eating behaviors. https://www.rcbm.net/behavioral-medicine/weight-loss-program/
