Oakland University Physical Therapy Program The Physical Therapy Program in the School of Health Sciences offers pre-professional, professional and post-professional degrees.

The Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Pre-physical Therapy is designed for students who want to prepare to apply for graduate programs in physical therapy. The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a professional graduate program which prepares individuals for licensure and entry into the physical therapy profession. The physical therapy program also offers post-profess

ional graduate certificates in orthopedic manual physical therapy, oncology rehabilitation, and teaching and learning for rehabilitation professionals as well as a diverse selection of post-professional courses. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the Department of Human Movement Science is an academic doctorate to prepare leaders, educators and researchers. This degree is designed for physical therapists, exercise science and movement science professionals interested in obtaining the knowledge and skills to produce relevant research in human movement science.

Our third-year physical therapy students had an exciting last week in their pediatric course, exploring yoga-based interventions and bringing movement, creativity, and fun into their learning. What a special way to celebrate an incredible career and lasting impact!

Our DPT students are the best!!!

Spotlight: Dr. Jacqueline Scully and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students Ella Block, Joash John, Emily Justa and Collin Ann Negrito recently attended the Chandler Park Academy MLK Health Fair.

DPT students administered grip strength and balance assessments, as well as flexibility testing using the sit-and-reach test, with elementary and high school students.

It was a wonderful community event and we are grateful to our students for participating!

Dr. Sara Arena was recently interviewed by the AARP at the WLAJ/WLNS Studio in Lansing to share how her work with the Michigan Falls Prevention Coalition impacts the organizations age friendly community initiatives.

Dr. Arena was joined by Kayla Smith of the MDHHS and overviewed the Fall Prevention - Michigan 211 resource page which launched in 2025.
