Terry Tripp, an Oakland University physical therapy graduate, turned his passion of helping others into an enduring dedication. He brought essential rehabilitation services to rural Michigan and also gives back through an endowed scholarship that supports future physical therapists. His story is a reminder that impactful care can change more than just lives but entire communities.

PY1 DPT students are learning about wheelchairs in Dr. Kapur’s Patient Management class, PT 6756. Students enjoyed rolling into learning by mastering the fundamental wheelchair skills and mobility training to empower patients and caregivers.

Hands on learning in action! Oakland University PY1 DPT students practicing patient positioning skills in the Patient Management class, PT6756. Proper positioning of the patient can translate to enhanced patient safety, better clinical outcomes, prevention of pressure sores, improved physiological functions, and more comfort.

Students in Dr. Zousmer’s PT 3020 class were excited to participate in an interactive therapeutic exercise lab, expertly guided by Kyle Downie, PY3, and Graduate Assistant in the OUDPT program. These photos capture the enthusiasm of our pre-PT students as they learned about range of motion, concentric/eccentric muscle contractions, and open/closed kinetic chain movements; they were eager to apply their new knowledge to design and demonstrate creative exercises for a variety of patient populations.
