Oakland University Physical Therapy Program

Oakland University Physical Therapy Program The Physical Therapy Program in the School of Health Sciences offers pre-professional, professional and post-professional degrees.

The Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Pre-physical Therapy is designed for students who want to prepare to apply for graduate programs in physical therapy. The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a professional graduate program which prepares individuals for licensure and entry into the physical therapy profession. The physical therapy program also offers post-professional graduate certificates in orthopedic manual physical therapy, oncology rehabilitation, and teaching and learning for rehabilitation professionals as well as a diverse selection of post-professional courses. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the Department of Human Movement Science is an academic doctorate to prepare leaders, educators and researchers. This degree is designed for physical therapists, exercise science and movement science professionals interested in obtaining the knowledge and skills to produce relevant research in human movement science.

Friendly Reminder SHS students!!

Due to an urgent repair to the high-temperature hot water system, Oakland University’s campus will be closed entirely from Friday, November 21st at 5pm until Sunday, November 30th.

As a result, The School of Health Sciences, along with any club meetings or SHS events will be closed and postponed until the campus has reopened.

Be sure to check Moodle for updates from your professors about classes that week. Professors are to let you know if they will be holding class online or cancelling for the week by Monday, November 17th.

The campus will be back to normal hours on Monday, December 1st.

A full and exciting day for OU DPT Class of 2026 students.

In the morning, a DPT student group provided falls prevention education at the Auburn Hills Community Center.

In the afternoon, a second DPT student group provided pickleball injury prevention education at the Chesterfield Township Community Center.

Both service learning activities are components of the Health Promotion and Wellness curriculum taught by Drs. Scully and Arena.
