Set, hike!!! We loved watching Super Bowl 60! We enjoyed delicious treats and drinks while we cheered on our favorite team. We wish the Lions could have been in the Super Bowl but next year will be our year! Congratulations to the Seahawks and all our football fans 🏈🏉🏈🏟️

I wanted to take a moment to shout out our amazing activity team for Activity Professionals Week! My team enriches the lives our residents each day in big and small ways. My fantastic assistant Brelynn helps me with literally everything while also making a difference in the residents lives. My activity aides, Ashley Stephanie and Annette, make the residents laugh, encourage them to try new things, spend one on one time with the residents, and bring the fun to all activities! Please say thank you to them if you see them in the hallway or give them a shout out in the comments below. I am so grateful for all they do. It may be cold outside, but we are warmed by the excellence of our two January employee honorees! Lynn Otwell (pictured with Business Office Manager Flutura Alla) was named Employee of the Month, with her exceptional stamina and work ethic cited. Lynn has only been with the Pomeroy family a few months, but she’s accomplished a year’s worth of cleaning and organizing the business office.

Nurse Sonya Viverette (pictured with Director of Nursing Lindsay Wedge) was awarded this month’s Excellence in Action distinction by a former resident named Audrey. Audrey wrote in her nomination that when she mentioned to nurse Sonya how much she enjoyed music, Sonya shared that she played the piano. Then, on Christmas Eve while Audrey was enjoying a meal with her family in our Bistro, nurse Sonya (on her meal break) sat down at Pomeroy’s grand piano and played for Audrey and her family. As Audrey puts it, “ Such moments truly make one heal.”

How lucky are we to have such stellar professionals working on behalf of our residents and short-term guests?

We couldn’t possibly let 2025 end without acknowledging two very special people. Helen Juliano, RN, is one of our overnight nurses—and she was named Employee of the Month for December. Ashley Kaur is one of our dedicated Activities Assistants—and she was recently recognized with an Excellence In Action award.

We very grateful Rabbi Menachem provided a presentation for our residents to celebrate Hanukkah. We learned about playing the Dreidel, a traditional Hanukkah game. We learned about the blessings for lighting of the candles and for the miracles of Hanukkah. Lastly, we learned about the wearing of Tefillin to connect your heart, mind, and actions to the Creator.

We kicked off our holiday week yesterday with a festive Holiday Luncheon for residents and their guests in the Rose Terrace dining room. Chef Syed and his wonderful culinary team prepared a delicious luncheon that included a choice of Prime Rib or Ham, Brussel Sprouts with Cranberries, Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes, Italian Wedding Soup, and yummy cheesecake for dessert. Sparkling Apple Cranberry juice and musical entertainment made the afternoon even more merry!

Thank you to Brandon Birkner, our Activities Director, and his staff who worked hand-in-hand with the culinary team to create a winter wonderland of holiday fun for our residents and families in attendance! 🎄🎅🏼⛄️

Last Thursday, it was time to celebrate some very important people: The staff of Pomeroy Living’s Rochester Skilled Rehabilitation! The employees enjoyed a festive night out at Ike’s Restaurant in Sterling Heights, where they were treated to a sumptuous buffet, cash bar, DJ + dancing, and over 60 raffle prizes donated by our physicians and loyal vendors.

HR Director Sangeetha Subash was ready with her camera to document all the laughter, smiles, and all around merriment of this festive event!
