🦷 Why I Often Recommend a 3D CBCT Before Removing an Infected or a Root Canal Tooth

When a root canal treated tooth develops an infection underneath it, the problem is often deeper than what we can see on a regular 2D X-ray.

That’s why, before removing these teeth, I frequently recommend a Cone Beam CT Scan (CBCT).

📍 A CBCT gives us a 3D view of the tooth and surrounding bone, allowing us to evaluate:

✔️ The true depth and size of the infection
✔️ Hidden bone loss or lesions beneath the root
✔️ Proximity to important structures like:
• The maxillary sinus (upper teeth)
• The inferior alveolar nerve (lower teeth)
✔️ The safest surgical approach for removal and healing

✨ In biological dentistry, our goal is always to treat with precision, minimize trauma, and support whole-body health.

A CBCT helps us plan smarter, safer, and more thoroughly for every patient.
