🎙️ Dr. Sudhakar Venkatesh recently joined the Radiology: Imaging Cancer Podcast from the RSNA Trainee Editorial Board to discuss liver disease diagnosis and the power of imaging.

In conversation with co-host Yash Singh-Wolkenhauer, Ph.D., Dr. Venkatesh shared his journey to radiology, his passion for noninvasive diagnosis and preventive medicine, and advances like MR elastography — a transformative tool for detecting and monitoring liver fibrosis earlier and more accurately.

Liver disease often goes undetected until advanced stages, making innovation in imaging critical for earlier diagnosis and improved patient care.

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to shape the future of radiology, one question comes up often: Will AI replace radiologists?

Researchers from the Mayo Clinic Radiology AI Lab address this directly in their newly published paper, “Beyond Single Systems: How Multi-Agent AI Is Reshaping Ethics in Radiology,” in Bioengineering. Their conclusion is clear—AI is designed to support radiologists, not replace them.

The paper explores how multi-agent AI systems, built with specialized agents that question, cross-check, and complement one another, can enhance ethical oversight, reduce bias, and improve transparency in clinical applications. Rather than removing the human from the loop, this approach reinforces the radiologist’s role as the final decision-maker—keeping patient care at the center.
