Minnesota shows up through community connections - especially in times of need.

At Family Service Rochester we see neighbors supporting neighbors through life's hardest moments: mental health challenges, aging transition, unexpected crises.

The community's sense of connection shows up in Meals on Wheels and friendly visits, in Caregiver Respite programs, in peer support groups like the FATHER Project, FARR, when kids connect with parents at the Family Access Center, and at The Family Resource Center.

This community connection is one of our key goals. We *see you* and appreciate the heart our volunteers, donors, and staff share with our community.

Learn more about our services and how you can be a part of the positivity that comes from community connection!

The Rochester Athletic Club is in our Volunteer Spotlight!

The Rochester Athletic Club has been selected as the Volunteer Spotlight for February 2026 in recognition of its long-standing commitment to Meals on Wheels and the Rochester community.

The Rochester Athletic Club has proudly delivered Meals on Wheels every Wednesday since 1993 as a way to give back and say thank you to the Rochester community. For the team, the experience is both joyful and humbling. Meeting community members and helping in a meaningful, personal way reinforces the importance of connection and service. While there are many memorable moments, one stands out as especially meaningful: on Christmas Eve 2025, the club’s Fitness Director brought along his wife and five-year-old daughter so they could share in the joy of delivering meals. That moment captured the heart of what volunteering means to the Rochester Athletic Club which is service, generosity, and leading by example for the next generation.

Our thanks to the Rochester Athletic Club for your commitment to our community!

Our community always steps up! We hope you will join us and many other individuals and organizations at this important time in families lives.

There is still need.

While it’s been announced that Operation Metro Surge is ending, families can’t recover from two months of missed rent overnight. Rent is still due. Utilities are still due. Kids still need stability.

We are deeply grateful to the many community partners who have already joined us in launching the Hope at Home Fund — thank you for stepping up quickly and trusting us to move resources where they’re needed most. 💜 (We’ll be tagging you in the comments.)

And we are still seeing families who were stable just weeks ago now facing eviction risk.

The need hasn’t disappeared. It’s unfolding.

If you want to join this effort — as a referral partner, a donor, or a community supporter — there is still time, and there is still work to do.

Let’s keep kids housed.

Black History Month and Our Commitment to Professional Ethics
____________________________________________________

Black History Month offers an opportunity to recognize the enduring contributions of Black communities and to reaffirm our commitment to the ethical principles that guide social work practice.

The Social Work Code of Ethics, established by the National Association of Social Workers, calls on social workers to uphold the dignity and worth of every person, to challenge social injustice, and to confront discrimination in all its forms. These principles are not abstract ideals; they are central to our professional responsibilities.

Throughout history, and still today, dehumanizing stereotypes and narratives have been used to diminish the humanity, leadership, and lived experiences of Black people. Such portrayals run counter to the core values of social work and weaken the ethical foundation of a just and inclusive society. As human services professionals, we have a responsibility to be attentive to the impact of these narratives and to respond with integrity and care. At FSR, this commitment is shared across all staff.

At FSR, we recognize that racism, bigotry, and demeaning representations, whether subtle or overt, cause real harm to individuals and communities. We remain committed to the values of dignity, social justice, integrity, and respect for human relationships, and reflecting these values in our work.

This is our community working together.

Families across Southeast Minnesota are facing sudden disruption that can quickly put their housing at risk. Missed work, lost income, and fear around daily routines can turn into a housing crisis almost overnight—especially for families already living paycheck to paycheck.

Our Story

For the past 50 years, Family Service Rochester has sharpened its focus to working with families with serious child welfare and/or family violence concerns. Major service expansions have been in the areas of child maltreatment, child welfare, children’s mental health, domestic violence and providing our services to ethnically diverse populations in our community. Today the agency provides more than 30 programs to meet ever-changing community needs. Our staff of over 85 provides a wide range of human services that educate, strengthen, support, protect and empower individuals and families in our community.
