As mental health professionals, we understand that it can be challenging to navigate through difficult emotions. However, it's essential to remember that no feeling is permanent.
It's natural to experience a range of emotions, from joy and excitement to fear and sadness. But it's crucial to remind ourselves that these emotions will eventually pass.
When we hold onto our emotions, we often end up creating a negative feedback loop that perpetuates our distress. It's okay to feel overwhelmed at times, but it's equally essential to acknowledge that these emotions will not last forever.
At our mental health practice, we encourage our clients to explore their emotions and learn skills to cope. By doing so, we can develop resilience and a better understanding of ourselves.
Remember, no feeling is permanent, and with the right support, you can overcome anything.

Three years ago today, Birchlawn Place Counseling Center Inc. opened its doors to the Rochester area and surrounding communities. Since then, we have had the opportunity to serve 329 individuals and families through 11,225 scheduled therapeutic appointments to date.💕
Since our opening date, January 13th, 2020, BPCC has had an ever-growing waiting list for both our pediatric occupational therapy services and mental health services due to the ongoing and growing mental health needs of children and families.
Due to this, Birchlawn Place Counseling Center, INC’s year four goal is to onboard four mental health clinicians and one pediatric occupational therapist to complete our clinical team.
Growing our clinical team in year four will allow us to serve our shared community more deeply by reaching more children and families, who unfortunately are often met with long waiting lists and wait times when in need of mental health services.
We are incredibly thankful for all of your support as a community these past few years. We are looking forward to many more years of providing comprehensive mental health and pediatric occupational therapy services to the Rochester community and surrounding communities.
To reach our year four goal, Birchlawn Place Counseling Center, INC is actively looking to onboard clinicians demonstrating specialized expertise and an innate passion for partnering with children and families on their healing journeys.

What contributed to the founding of Birchlawn Place Counseling Center, INC?
After over six years of clinical practice in the Rochester Community, Brittni Timmerman, MS, NCC, LPCC, RPT identified a need to bridge the gap between children and families’ mental health needs and access to holistic and equitable community based mental health services. Brittni took this identified need and paired it with her belief that an integral part of providing holistic and innovative services is dependent on providing a safe place while fostering connections, emotional wellness, healing, and a sense of community within the children and families she works with as the motivation and inspiration to found Birchlawn Place Counseling Center, INC.
The identified children and family’s mental health need influenced Birchlawn Place Counseling Center INC.’s Founding Principle:
Our Founder’s beliefs about what is integral to providing holistic and innovative mental health services demonstrates the core values that shape the behaviors and services provided by our clinical team and outlines the goals and objectives of Birchlawn Place Counseling Center, INC. encompassing the mission of Birchlawn Place Counseling Center, INC:
Why the name Birchlawn Place?
Birchlawn Place is a tribute namesake to the Founder’s maternal grandmother, D. J. She was the matriarch of the founder’s family and played a crucial role in the founder’s upbringing. D. J. instilled the core values of Birchlawn Place Counseling Center INC. within the founder, always leading by example and truly embodying what she aspired to share with those around her. D. J. did not have much, yet what she did have she was always willing to share, always having an open-door and providing a safe place for family, friends, and neighborhood children whether for a meal, an afternoon respite, somewhere to go over the Holidays, or for temporary living arrangements. She valued her family more than anything and worked tirelessly to ensure the well-being of all those she encountered even when she herself experienced loss and personal struggles in her life. D. J. was humble, resilient, empathic, a giver, radiated love, and valued togetherness. She was an everyday healer merely by staying true to her humanistic ways of engaging with the world around her and by fostering connections, emotional wellness, healing, and a sense of community. D.J. lives on today through the actions and work of the countless individuals’ lives she touched. She is at the core of Birchlawn Place Counseling Center, INC.’s values and mission.
