In September, Techquity by FAITH! participants from Rochester and St. Paul came together to walk, learn, and celebrate their heart health journeys. It was a wonderful day of community, encouragement, and fun, showing how coming together can make a big difference in our health and wellness.

🍂 Healthy Choices This Thanksgiving 🍽️

The Balm in Gilead shared helpful tips to support healthier holiday traditions in our communities. Diabetes and heart disease continue to affect Black communities at higher rates, and even small adjustments can have a meaningful impact.

Tips for a healthier holiday:
✔️ Start small: Add one lighter or vegetable-based dish to your menu
✔️ Cook wisely: Use less oil, sugar, salt, or butter, and bake or grill when possible
✔️ Stay balanced: Fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables
✔️ Hydrate: Choose water or infused water over sugary drinks
✔️ Give thanks: Enjoy the meal, the people, and the gift of health

✨ Flashback Friday: Walk By FAITH! Rochester ✨

Today we’re looking back on our Walk By FAITH! Rochester event held on Saturday, September 27 at Essex Park! This event was a fun-filled day dedicated to celebrating our Techquity participants and keeping them motivated on their heart health journeys!

We were honored to be joined by Rochester Mayor Kim Norton, Rochester Council Member Dan Doering, and State Senator Liz Boldon, along with so many committed Techquity participants.

The Walk By FAITH! events celebrated participant progress, strengthened connections, and the importance of culturally grounded, community-led approaches to improving heart health. Rochester truly embodied that spirit!

We are deeply grateful for the ongoing partnership and dedication of our pastors, Digital Health Advocates (DHAs), and participants. Your leadership and commitment continue to move this work forward. ❤️
