Christopher Columbus (Italian: Cristoforo Colombo [kriˈstɔːforo koˈlombo]) was an Italian explorer[b] from Genoa who led a Spanish maritime expedition to cross the Atlantic Ocean in search of an alternative route to the Far East. Columbus believed he sailed his crew to the East Indies, but Europeans realized years later that his voyages landed them in the New World. His first voyage to the New World was made on the Spanish ships Niña, Pinta, and Santa María and took about three months. The crew's arrival in the New World initiated the colonization of the Americas by Spain, followed in the ensuing centuries by other European powers, as well as the transfer of plants, animals, culture, human populations, and technology between the New and Old Worlds, an event referred to by some late 20th‐century historians as the Columbian exchange.[2]

The landing is celebrated as Columbus Day in the United States, but the name varies internationally.

🤓 New study regarding the effects of THC on driving/crashes 🚗

Date: October 5, 2025
Source: American College of Surgeons
AI summary:
Based on recent research presented in October 2025, over 40% of drivers killed in crashes in one Ohio county had THC in their blood at levels suggesting recent use. Other 2024 and 2025 studies further explore how THC and cannabis legalization impact car crash risk and driving behavior.
Recent studies on THC and car crashes
Ohio fatal crash study (2025)
Key finding: Among 246 deceased drivers in Montgomery County, Ohio, from 2019 to 2024, 41.9% tested positive for active THC. The average blood level was 30.7 ng/mL, which is far higher than the 2–5 ng/mL impairment limits in most states.
Tolerance and recent use:
Researchers noted that these high THC levels indicate recent use, not residual amounts from past consumption. The study also found that high-tolerance users still experience impaired driving abilities.
Impact of legalization:
The rate of THC-positive drivers did not significantly change after Ohio legalized recreational cannabis in 2023, suggesting that legalization did not alter the behavior of those who drive after using ma*****na.

AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety report (2025)
Driving behavior:
A report revealed that 84.8% of cannabis users surveyed drove within eight hours of consumption, and over half drove within an hour.
Impaired judgment:
The AAA report notes that THC impairs a driver's judgment, coordination, and reaction time. While cannabis users may drive slower due to anxiety, both alcohol and THC impairment increase crash risk.

Dose-response relationship study (2025)
Increased culpability:
A meta-regression analysis found that drivers with THC in their system are 10–70% more likely to be at fault in a crash. At 5 ng/mL of THC, the risk of being responsible for a crash can double.
Risk levels: This study found that crash risk increases at blood THC levels of around 1.5–3.0 ng/mL. Levels below 1.5 ng/mL pose little or no extra risk.

Simulated freeway driving study (2024)
Driving effects:
A study published in Traffic Injury Prevention compared how cannabis and alcohol affect freeway driving. THC use led to greater lane weaving and an increase in lane departures, though drivers also tended to drive at slower speeds.
Comparison to alcohol:
The study noted that alcohol use led to higher speeds, while THC users showed more cautious, but still impaired, driving behaviors. When used together, cannabis and alcohol amplify crash risk.

Use what's around you as mindfulness tools...

SYMBOLISM:
The full moon symbolizes completeness, illumination, abundance, and emotional heightened awareness, serving as a time for release, reflection, and spiritual connection. It marks the peak of the lunar cycle, symbolizing the culmination of what was initiated at the new moon, and is associated with bringing hidden emotions and unconscious patterns to the surface for transformation and grounding.
Astronomical & Traditional Context:
Harvest Moon: This full moon occurs closest to the autumn equinox, traditionally signaling the time for farmers to gather crops late into the night.
Hunter's Moon: In other traditions, the full moon is known as the Hunter's Moon, indicating a time to begin hunting in preparation for winter. 💜🌕💚

New study shows that limiting your child's access to social media until they are older is beneficial to their mental health. That means no smart phone until at least high school. 📚📵

Children, especially girls, who use smartphones before they are 13 years old may have worse mental health outcomes when they’re older, a new study suggests.
