Saint Catherine of Siena is reported to have written, "It is heaven all the way to heaven and hell all the way to hell." How can that be possible? In today's Gospel, which includes the Beatitudes, Jesus is attempting to initiate his disciples—and all of us—into his own transcendental understanding of God, humanity, and the way life works. This dynamic, loving, intelligence always serves our highest good and leads us to liberation and true peace. To live in the Christ Consciousness, here and now, is truly living in heaven! Along the way, I will share with you the difference between information and transcendental understanding. I will also explain the three types of egoic consciousness, the meaning of "the mountain" in the story, and how we can open ourselves to the same Christ Consciousness that Jesus described. In this way, we can become living, breathing channels of God's love to our brothers and sisters.

On Saturday evening, February 7, the Assisi Institute is honored to host Charu Suri, Grammy-nominated composer and pianist, for A Night of Love and Music.
Charu will be joined by Tommy Gravino, Nate Coffey on stand-up bass, and two tabla players for an evening of rich, cross-cultural sound. The concert will open with offerings from Megan Hook and Bruce McClellan.
Charu has performed at Carnegie Hall five times, most recently in March 2025. Following the performance, she will join us for a post-concert reception featuring snacks from Thali of India.

Festive Indian-style attire is welcome and optional.

Today's Gospel recounts the simple yet profound beginning of Jesus' public ministry. Realizing that he couldn't fulfill his mission alone, Jesus calls his disciples from their ordinary lives to their very best lives—lives that would expand them to the fulfillment of their highest potential, joy, and purpose. Jesus wants no less for each of us! As human beings, we are made for happiness and fulfillment. Today, I will share with you four levels of happiness, and then show you how your ultimate happiness and fulfillment have already begun. We, too, have been chosen by the God who always makes the first move—to live the best, most joyful, and most fulfilling lives we can possibly live. Jesus and our Gurus say to us, "Come, follow me." Let's do it.
