Let’s top last year together! 🧠🚲

Thanks to our community, we’re already more than halfway to what we raised last year with $1,422 donated — now we’re pushing to surpass last year’s $2,400 total.

Every donation helps put a properly fitted helmet on a child who needs one and keeps young minds safe.

➡️ Donate today at https://roc.health/helmet

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, and we’re once again stepping up to keep our community’s young riders safe. 🧠🚲

The Golisano Restorative Neurology & Rehab Center at Unity Hospital is launching this year’s helmet drive to make sure kids who need bike and skate helmets have access to them. Prevention is the strongest defense against brain injury - and a properly fitted helmet can make all the difference.

Every dollar donated goes directly toward purchasing brand-new helmets for local children. Help us share this effort, and consider making a contribution today.

Setting the Standard for Nurse Education and Nurse Excellence, Right Here in our Community! ✨

🏆 We’re proud to congratulate our Nurse Residency Program for their recent Accreditation with Distinction from the ANCC - American Nurses Credentialing Center - the highest national recognition for practice transition programs - underscoring our commitment to exceptional mentorship, education, and support for new nurses.

🩺 Also this month, we welcomed nursing students to our Clinical Kick-Offs at Unity, where they connected with recruitment and unit leaders to explore specialties, ask questions, and discover the paths that inspire them as they begin their careers.

For every nursing student, every new graduate, and every step of the journey - we’re here for it. 🩵

A familiar face, back with a full heart. 🩵

This Season of Caring, Joe and his wife Beckie returned to our Golisano Restorative Neurology & Rehabilitation Center with a meaningful gift for today’s patients.

As a former patient and stroke survivor, Joe knows how much small comforts can matter during recovery. That’s why they donated cozy blankets for adult rehab patients — hoping each one feels like a hug and a reminder that no one is alone.

What started last year as a thank-you has become a tradition rooted in gratitude, hope, and care for others. We’re so thankful to Joe and Beckie for sharing their hearts with our patients and our Unity team. 🌟

In 2009, Sarah Ragusa decided she was ready for a change.

As a single mother to her 4-year-old daughter and with 7 years of experience as a bank teller, she took the leap into a new career as an entry-level Access Associate with RRH. Despite her initial feelings of insecurity of not having an advanced degree or a formal background in healthcare, Sarah quickly demonstrated her potential, and thrived in her role.

“I was recognized for the value of my skills, dedication, and perseverance,” Sarah says, “qualities that can speak louder than a degree.”

Within a year, Sarah was promoted to Administrative Assistant, and now, she shines in her current role as Program Coordinator for the RRH Breast Center of Excellence, where she keeps compassionate breast care moving for patients and their families.

Sarah’s growth matters here. Her work does too. 🩵

From Care Tech ➡️ Supervisor ➡️ Manager ➡️ soon to be Director 🩵

Unity Hospital team member, Bonnie Mattle, recently shared her incredible 25-year journey with us, and we couldn’t be prouder:

“I started at Unity in February 2000. I started here in a newly created position of care tech in the operating room. Through many changes, and significant growth with myself, the team, and the building itself, I have been fortunate enough to have been a part of this transformation.

I have been able to progress through my career starting as a care tech for several years, then a supervisor in the Operating Room for 10+ years, to a Manager in Sterile Processing for another 10 years, and soon a director, all made possible through amazing support, mentorship, and leadership. I have always felt the unwavering support from and thrived under the leadership of Tricia Simonelli, and most recently, I felt the overwhelming, humbling support of the entire leadership team at Unity and throughout the system.

Unity is my home, and our team is my extended family, and I am grateful to be a part of it.”

Thank you to Bonnie for sharing what makes so special, and for all you do to make it special for others.
