A Zissen Pesach! We wish you and your family and friends a sweet and meaningful Passover. As we prepare to gather around the Seder table, we remember the journey from slavery to freedom, from hardship to hope. May this holiday bring moments of reflection, connection and tradition, while renewing hope for peace.

Jewish Home has been introducing new services on its campus as needs evolve, while also expanding beyond the campus into people’s homes with a broad range of Home and Community-Based services. These services, which help older adults maintain their independence for as long as possible, have been growing thanks to a significant gift from the Marjorie and Julian Goldstein Fund for Aging-in-Place Initiatives.

“Our goal is to find a way to take the services we offer on our campus and bring them into people’s homes — in many ways bringing Jewish Home to your home,” Julian Goldstein said. “We are helping the community to care for older adults in the manner you would want your parents cared for. Whatever you need, we can help.”

March is National Nutrition Month!

Healthy eating looks different at every stage of life, and for those living with dementia, mealtimes can become more challenging. Simple adaptations like turning meals into “finger foods” can help maintain independence, dignity, and proper nutrition.

Small changes, like serving soup in mugs or creating handheld versions of favorite meals, can make a big difference in the dining experience.

The Project East program at Jewish Home has brought 38 East High School students to Jewish Home over the last four years to participate in the Aging Services Career Exploration Internship program.

Last month 12 students were awarded certificates of completion for the 15-week program designed to educate about the physical, mental, and psychological aspects of aging. Students learn about a variety of career opportunities, including nursing, human resources, social work, nutrition, physical therapy, and recreational art therapy by shadowing staff, conducting their own research, and experiential learning across disciplines.

We applaud the students and thank Christine S. for coordinating the successful program at Jewish Home! We are proud to note that several Project East graduates have joined the Jewish Home staff following their high school graduation.

Jewish Home is proud to share that creative work for our “Come Be You” advertising campaign earned the “Best of Show” title from the American Advertising Federation, during its annual ceremony of the Rochester chapter. The winning partner agency is Myers Creative Imaging, which also earned two Gold Awards for the campaign’s photography and video. The campaign also won several local and national awards for marketing and advertising in 2025.

”Come Be You” campaign celebrates older adults living their best lives who want to “be themselves,” rather than being defined by their age. The campaign uses upbeat imagery and a striking black-and-white aesthetic to create a modern and energetic feel, with an invitation to “come be you.”

Rochester Business Journal reported, “The message within the ads: older adults should act whatever age they feel, and the judges believed the images from Myers Creative portrayed that message perfectly.”

This month, our Dementia Care Navigator, Sarah, hosted a wonderful Creating Memories Coffee Hour at Marian’s House Memory Program. The event gave families and caregivers the opportunity to connect, network, and get to know Sarah in a meaningful way. Residents spent time creating scrapbooks alongside their loved ones, and many families shared how special it was to slow down and truly connect with one another. Moments like these are what community is all about.

Reach out to our Dementia Care Navigator at 585-784-5612 to learn more about available support and resources.

Jewish Home hosted a press conference on Friday for LeadingAge New York, joining with residents, family members, local nursing home leaders, and dedicated state lawmakers to highlight the chronic underfunding of nursing homes — and the urgent need for New York state to make a meaningful investment in long-term care.

Watch the 10NBC news story here:

We extend appreciation to Assemblymember Harry Bronson, Assemblywoman Sarah Clark - AD 136, Assemblyman Josh Jensen, Assemblymember Jen Lunsford, Senator Samra Brouk, and Senator Jeremy Cooney — and to all the Assemblymembers and Senators who stand with us to support and champion stronger funding for high-quality nursing home care in New York state. We urge that the 2026-27 prioritize the funding of long-term care.
