What a magical holiday celebration we had last Friday evening!

Our Holiday Party was filled with smiles, laughter, and festive fun. 🎅 Santa made a special appearance, spreading cheer and posing for photos, while little (and big!) hands got busy with holiday crafts and cookie decorating. The music set the perfect seasonal mood, and everyone enjoyed delicious food along the way.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. We loved celebrating the season with you and hope your holidays are filled with joy!

We spent a magical day in the heart of Rochester today. We kicked things off with a jolly presentation on the History of the Christmas Card at The Strong National Museum of Play where we learned so many fun facts about how the Christmas card came to be and how it evolved over the years! Then, we took a magical stroll through the butterfly garden (it felt like winter wonderland meets spring) followed by a jaunt through the Doll House exhibit! We ended with a delicious lunch at Jines Restaurant on Park Ave—the perfect way to wrap up a festive day! �

This week we got into the festive spirit as we explored Eastview Mall to find unique gifts, and enjoy the joy of the season together. Some were looking for the perfect present, while others just wanted to soak in the holiday cheer. After we completed our shopping, we went to P.F. Chang's for a delicious lunch. It was the perfect opportunity to connect with friends and neighbors!

Yesterday, we happily stepped out of the snowy winter wonderland and entered the warm and toasty Conservatory at Highland Park! Every year, they wonderfully transform the conservatory into a holiday wonderland full of holiday lights that shine bright, bringing joy and warmth to the season. We wandered through the tropical plants, learning about the diverse plants housed there, made friends with the turtles & admired the beautiful twinkling lights & poinsettias that added to the holiday spirit.

The holiday season is here. To get into the spirit, we are throwing our annual holiday party this week. Join us for authentic holiday warmth along with sweet treats, a visit from Santa, and music by the University of Rochester’s award-winning a ca****la group, The Midnight Ramblers. We’ll serve favorite holiday yummies such as shrimp cocktail & spanakopita and the merry old elf will have gifts for the kids. We will also have a cookie decorating station & a holiday craft for the children to enjoy. Share the season’s joys with friends, family, and the delightful residents in our cheery community. Yesterday, we spent a blustery day at the movies seeing Wicked: For Good! Popcorn, comfy seats & a movie with friends… we couldn’t be happier 🙂

Yesterday, Michaela went to the Schotland Family YMCA to make these fun button holiday craft. The folks that attended had fun and got to be creative designing their own frames and images.

This week, our four in house partners: Happier At Home - Rochester, NY, Stronger Today Physical Therapy, Together in Caring & JA's Caring Connections collaborated on a ginger house scavenger hunt! Residents searched the building to find the offices of these businesses, got a piece of paper stamped and then entered their name to win one of four gift baskets. Residents also voted on these fabulous gingerbread houses with Together in Caring coming out on top with Happier at Home right behind!

Did you know.... The practice of decorating evergreen trees dates back to early Germanic and Baltic traditions, where evergreens symbolized endurance and life during the harsh winter. By the 1500’s, people in parts of Germany were decorating small fir trees with apples, nuts, and paper ornaments. The tradition spread across Europe over time, but it became widely popular after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert (who was German) were depicted with their decorated Christmas tree in an 1848 illustration.

We have begun decorating the Christmas trees around our community to continue this festive tradition dating back hundreds of years. 🎄🎄Stay tuned for more pictures of our holiday decorations throughout coming weeks.

Yesterday, Michaela took lunch to the Rainbow Seniors Community Center. One of our in-house partners, Kara from Together in Caring joined and loved spending time with this group. They came back to work with big smiles on their faces and had such a nice time.
