The RGH Big Give brought big smiles! 😁

On November 15, thanks to our Nursing Professional Practice Council and donations from RGH employees, the LeChase Lobby turned into a holiday wonderland for Rochester City School District families.

Nearly $9,000 in toys and gifts filled the room, and 57 kids went home with bags packed for the season, with more gift bags on the way for families who could not attend.

Parents said they were amazed by the amount and quality of the gifts and felt a huge weight lifted off their shoulders. 🥰

A special thank you goes out especially to the RGH NPPC, event champions Bethany Hudnell and Megan Malloy, and to hospital leaders for wrapping, welcoming families, and spreading joy.

To every RGH team member who donated, shopped, wrapped, or helped in any way, thank you. You brought so much light to our neighbors this season. 🩵

In 2009, Sarah Ragusa decided she was ready for a change.

As a single mother to her 4-year-old daughter and with 7 years of experience as a bank teller, she took the leap into a new career as an entry-level Access Associate with RRH. Despite her initial feelings of insecurity of not having an advanced degree or a formal background in healthcare, Sarah quickly demonstrated her potential, and thrived in her role.

“I was recognized for the value of my skills, dedication, and perseverance,” Sarah says, “qualities that can speak louder than a degree.”

Within a year, Sarah was promoted to Administrative Assistant, and now, she shines in her current role as Program Coordinator for the RRH Breast Center of Excellence, where she keeps compassionate breast care moving for patients and their families.

Sarah’s growth matters here. Her work does too. 🩵

UPDATED 10/29, 6:00pm:

The Portland Ave parking garage at Rochester General Hospital is closed for the remainder of the day and will reopen tomorrow morning (10/30). Cars currently parked in the garage can exit.

The garage has had a full structural assessment and engineers have verified its integrity is intact. Out of an abundance of caution, some sections will remain temporarily closed as cleanup continues.

Team members and the public should continue to park in the Carter Street Garage until tomorrow morning.

The hospital including the Emergency Department, remains fully open and operational. Patient care is not impacted.

Re: Portland Avenue Parking Garage fire at Rochester General Hospital, 10/29

Earlier today, a fire was reported in the Portland Avenue Parking Garage at Rochester General Hospital. Thanks to a quick response from our team members, the Rochester Fire Department, the Rochester Police Department, and other community first responders, the fire has been contained and there is no immediate risk to others at this time.

The main hospital is safe and patient care has not been affected. All services, including the Emergency Department and planned procedures, are running as usual.

Parking and Access Information:

• The Portland Avenue Garage is closed until further notice.
• All patients, visitors, and team members should park in the Carter Street Garage.
• For vehicles in areas not affected by the fire, our team is working to safely es**rt people back to their cars.

The safety of our patients, visitors, and team members is our top priority. We will continue to share any necessary updates as we have them here on the Rochester General Hospital page, on X, and Threads ().
