We love how Perinton Recreation and Parks includes financial support for participation in their recreation programs! Financial constraints can be a barrier that keeps someone with or without disabilities from achieving health, wellness, and social connectedness. Kudos, , for helping!
At the recent Town Board meeting, the Town of Perinton accepted a $1,000 contribution from the Friends of Perinton Recreation and Parks to support the Town's long-standing scholarship program.
These need-based scholarships provide financial support to individuals and families for Perinton Recreation and Parks programs, events, and activities, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent residents from participating.
A special thank you to Nate Romagnola, Chair of the group, and to all of the volunteers whose enthusiasm and dedication make this work possible. We are grateful for their continued support of our community and their commitment to expanding access to recreation opportunities.

Our Community Health Inclusion (CHI) initiatives spread the power and joy of inclusive recreation throughout communities. RAA uses a three-pronged approach to training recreation businesses to operate inclusively whenever their doors are open!! With this new model of true inclusion, it means families and friends can jump in and participate in REAL TIME -- that is, when they want to, with people they want to participate with, and doing things they want to be doing -- ALL WHILE KNOWING their needs will be met!
Our CHI partners include:
Erie Canal Boat Company in Fairport NY and Lockport, NY-- kayak and cycle rentals
Pickled Power -- Rochester NY -- pickleball instruction by Bob Stokes
Victor Parks and Recreation -- Victor NY -- a dynamic community recreation department
Healthy Highway -- a whole-life approach to sustainable wellness by Wendy Cooper
Genesee Valley Park Sports Complex -- training staff to provide inclusive programming
School 29 - Creating an Inclusion Team to address social inclusion throughout the school
Irondequoit Recreation -- starting the process of Inclusion throughout their department
More CHI partners are coming each year! Stay tuned as all of these wonderful entities begin thinking AND OPERATING inclusively so that all members of our community can participate!
Rochester Accessible Adventures works throughout the community (local, regional, and statewide) to bring true accessibility and social inclusion in recreation.
