For the second year, OUWB medical students connected with alumni residents at our "Alumni & Student Mixer: Specialty Speed Dating" event! 🩺

More than 30 students had the chance to ask 12 alumni anything during brief, rotating sessions. This unique event helps students build networking skills and gain invaluable advice about life after medical school.

A huge thank you to our alumni for making our students a priority and lending a hand. This is what the OUWB family is all about! 💛

A special event designed to provide current OUWB medical students with access to the school’s alumni recently was held for the second consecutive year.

Vanderbilt UniversityProfessor Kristen Gilliland, Ph.D., recently visited OUWB to share critical research on how cannabis use impacts the developing brain. Her powerful presentation, rooted in both science and personal experience, highlighted the increased risks for young people under 25. The key takeaway? Education is essential for making informed health decisions.

A professor from Vanderbilt University recently visited OUWB to talk about the health risks younger people take should they choose to ingest ma*****na.

Fuel your mind and body! OUWB medical students recently participated in the "Nourish to Flourish" event, learning how to build healthy eating habits on a busy schedule.

The event highlighted quick, nutrient-rich snacks and simple meal prep tips. Students explored how nutrition impacts cognitive function and learned to leverage tools like canned foods and meal-planning apps to make healthy choices easier.

A great reminder that taking care of yourself is just as important as hitting the books! 📚

We are so proud of OUWB alumnus Omar Abbas, M.D., ’22, who has authored a new book designed to help physicians and medical students see the vast landscape of opportunity beyond traditional clinical practice.

"Put Your Medical Degree to Work" is a guide to leveraging your medical expertise in fields like biotech, consulting, entrepreneurship, and venture capital.

Abbas says, “There is a need to educate physicians that these opportunities exist ... the more people that know about this side of medicine, the more innovation we can create, and ultimately benefit a greater number of patients.”

An OUWB alumnus has penned a book that aims to help physicians use their medical degrees in ways they “never thought possible,” including development of biotech, consulting, and more.

The Family Medicine and Dermatology interest groups had a fantastic time teaming up for a recent Dermatology Skills Night!

A huge thank you to the incredible physicians and residents from Corewell Health who guided our students through basic outpatient dermatology procedures like punch biopsies, shave biopsies, and cryotherapy.

Students practiced on oranges as part of this wonderful opportunity to learn essential skills that family medicine physicians use every day.

Lighting up the night for a cause! ✨

Elliott Tower recently glowed with hope and support as OUWB's AMWA and Oncology Interest Group hosted their "Light the Path" fundraiser. About 100 luminarias, each representing a loved one affected by breast cancer, lined the path to raise money for Corewell Health's Sharing & Caring program.

This powerful display shows our students' commitment to compassion and community long before they become physicians. We are so !
