Researchers found that even mild hearing loss in midlife was associated with measurable brain changes and higher dementia risk—particularly among people with the APOE ε4 gene.

A new Framingham Heart Study links midlife hearing loss to smaller brain volume, faster cognitive decline, and higher dementia risk—especially in APOE ε4 carriers. Early hearing-aid use may help protect brain health.
