Baby Formula Expert

Baby Formula Expert At Baby Formula Expert, we educate parents about infant formula and baby nutrition to help them feel confident in the decisions they make for their baby.

Baby Formula Expert is the brainchild of Dr. Bridget Young. As an expert in infant nutrition, and a Mom herself, Dr Young was frustrated with the lack of information and support available to parents who choose to feed their babies formula. She found herself answering the same questions from patients over and over again, so she founded BabyFormulaExpert.com as a resource for both parents and health care providers. At Baby Formula Expert, we share the most cutting-edge research in the field of infant nutrition in easy-to-understand language. We also provide lots of step-by-step guides and hands-on resources for parents and health care providers. There are so many options in baby formula and parents are often left to pick one with no information. If a baby needs to switch formulas, parents can feel helpless and worried about how to choose the right option. At Baby Formula Expert, we help you eliminate that fear and feel confident in your decisions. We educate parents about exactly what differs between baby formula brands. We teach them how to choose a formula that is right for their baby while avoiding ingredients that may cause issues. If parents decide to switch formulas, our resources help them to do this like a scientist, leaving nothing to chance! We believe that you are the expert on your own baby! Our goal is to help you feel empowered and confident in the feeding decisions you make for her. This way, instead of worrying, you can spend your precious time enjoying your baby!

What is the Best Formula for Infants who also get Breast Milk? ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿคฑ

It's a trick question!!!

ALL formulas are regulated to meet the needs of infants 0-12 months.
ALL formulas are made to be a safe substitute for breast milk (when it's not available).
So it's silly to say one formula is just for babies also getting breast milk.

No matter if your baby is also getting breast milk or not - Focus on finding the best protein/ fat / carb blend that keeps your baby comfortable.

This will be different for every baby. Every baby is different and perfect. ๐Ÿ‘ผ

The headline they didn't write

The headline Consumer Reports didn't write โ€” but should have. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Their own experts said it right there in the report: every formula tested is safe to feed your baby. And the levels found are not high enough to present an immediate health hazard.

I re-read it for emphasis. On camera. Because you needed to hear it.

Scary headlines get clicks. Context saves parents from unnecessary panic at 2am. That's why we're here!

Full breakdown of the report is on the channel โ€” and over at BabyFormulaExpert.com if you want the details without the drama.

You're doing a great job. ๐Ÿ’™

Soy contains compounds that decrease the absorption certain minerals. This means that premature babies should never be fed soy formula.

And I rarely recommend it as a starting formula for the average term baby either.

There are lots of fantastic reasons a baby could benefit from soy formula ... and I am so glad we have great soy formulas available! Just be sure you make that decision with your pediatrician.

Corn syrup is a common source of carbohydrates in formula. ๐ŸŒฝ

Lactose is the carb in breast milk, but it's common in the US for formulas to be made with other carbs as well.

Other non-lactose carbs are:
maltodextrin
corn syrup solids
sucrose
sugar
brown rice syrup
glucose syrup

The ONLY way you know what carbs are in your formula is to look at the list of ingredients and see if you find any of these non-lactose carbs listed. That's the ONLY way to know!
