Dr. Jeanne Sinkford is another Black History Month inspiration to us! Dr. Sinkford was the top of her class, a female dentist at a time when there were few, and the first female dean of an American dental school She believed "mentoring develops the profession" so she worked with at-risk students as well as junior faculty to guide them in the academic world. Additionally, she worked to ensure that in poor and underserved communities, local dentists were trained to treat a multitude of procedures as patients were unable to afford costly specialists. She juggled all of this professional success and also raised 3 children.
