✨ Pelvic Floor PT: What to expect at your first visit
If you’re new to pelvic floor physical therapy, here’s what your first appointment may look like.
🕒 A 60-Minute, One-on-One Visit
Your therapist will take time to talk through your symptoms, concerns, daily habits, and goals. This conversation helps guide a personalized plan just for you.
🧘♀️ A Whole-Body Assessment
Because pelvic floor symptoms often connect to other areas, your PT may assess your hips, back, posture, and movement patterns to get a full picture of what’s going on.
📚 Education & Understanding
You’ll learn about pelvic floor anatomy, how these muscles work, and how they relate to the symptoms you’re experiencing. Clear, simple education is a big part of your first session.
🔍 Do I Need a Pelvic Exam?
Not necessarily. An internal pelvic floor assessment is only offered if it’s appropriate and only if you feel comfortable. Your therapist will explain the process, answer questions, and get your full consent. It’s always optional.
💙 Pelvic health is personal and your care should be too. We’re here to support you every step of the way!
