This quarter’s Taco ‘Bout It! focused on connection. Inspired by Suluika Jaoud’s The Isolation Journal post, “What Happens When We Tell the Truth”, we discussed the vulnerability of sharing our cancer identity and how different spaces shape how much of ourselves we show.

Members agreed 13thirty is a place where that openness feels a little easier surrounded by others who truly get it.💙🦋

Because of Lauren’s vision, 13thirty Cancer Connect has become a place where teens and young adults with cancer find connection, understanding, and support from others who truly “get it.”💙🦋

Every program, every conversation, and every moment of community started with the promise Lauren made to her daughter, Melissa, 25 years ago - to “make a difference, make things better.”

We are thrilled to share that we are a part of a new partnership in our community: The Greater Rochester Cancer Alliance (GRCA). 13thirty Cancer Connect, ACS EMPOWER, Camp Good Days and Special Times Inc., Cancer Support Community at Gilda's Club Rochester and C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association have come together to provide a more centralized and coordinated approach to cancer support services for patients, families and healthcare providers across the Greater Rochester region. Please take a look at our website, which includes a joint calendar with the programs being offered by our groups (https://bit.ly/rochestercanceralliance). This centralized, accessible hub of cancer support resources should make this experience a little easier for those in their battles and beyond. GRCA's hope is this one-stop-shop increases communication between our groups and with those we support.
