Many workplaces bring in weight loss programs, but have you tried a mindful eating program?

Mindful eating allows each of us to make flexible decisions based on our inner awareness.

This is a program that's built on self-understanding of habits, triggers, cravings, needs for taste satiety as well as knowing hunger & fullness levels.

It's not about 100 calorie snacks, metabolic rate, and the nutritional value of food (you will need to hire someone else for that!).

Today we deliver an intro workshop to one of our clients on Mindful Eating for Sweet Relief. How do we curb the desire to eat (more) sweets?

This program is based on Jean Kristeller, PhD's work on mindfulness based exercises for binge eaters. And the qualities that make up binge eating actually are similar to our American habit of eating too much. *Explained more in the intro workshop*

Send us a note if you would like to hold an intro workshop at your worksite, virtual and in-person in Western NY is available. This is a great class to couple with a luncheon as a give-back to your hard working colleagues.

What does our resistance to our pain and discomfort do? According to Chris Germer in his book, The Mindful Path to Self Compassion, our resistance multiplies our feeling of suffering.

This is one of the most important things I’ve learned in my understanding of mindful self compassion as Dr. Kristen Neff and Dr. Chris Germer explain it in their courses.

Coming up on April 24 will have a free webinar with our friends at Bree Health and ENI on mindful self compassion. This is one of the many programs you can bring to your company to increase Emotional intelligence, soft skills, and essentially what makes us human in an age of AI.

Mindful eating can be integrated into the day with simple choices like how we prepare our food. In this picture, my son spent time creating a mandala with our snack food. Arranging it in a beautiful way to enhance your enjoyment. So the next meal you have, you can simply prepare your attitude of mindfulness by laying out the food in a beautiful way arranging a centerpiece, quieting the phone, and taking three minutes to breathe deeply and sense into your own hunger, thirst level, and need for nutrition.

mindful eating is for everyone. You don’t need to have a disordered way of eating or bad habits. We are simply bringing back our attention to our food and our own bodies needs in this practice.

Especially for those of us who think they are too busy to have a meditation practice, mindful eating offers us an opportunity to practice integrated into what we already do three times a day. When we worked with the University of Rochester Medical Center, we found that nurses and doctors were extremely busy and had a challenging time integrating meditation into their day. So we worked with them on mindful eating practices , even if all they had was time to eat a few baby carrots they could deepen their own awareness of themselves and create deeper connection with their patients.

mindfulness is for everyone. We are simply training the attention to know what we are experiencing at the time or experiencing it. It is a present moment awareness of what’s going on inside of us and even what’s going on outside of us. When we learn a practice like mindful eating or regulated breathing practices, we take the drivers seat in our well-being journey.

At Inward Office, we teach a very simple and body based practice of yoga as the foundation of our services.

Given the sedentary lifestyle of today’s desk worker, we find that these body-based practices are an entry point into embodiment and integrates self-awareness into the day in a tactile manner.

When you look at all of the practices of yoga, they can also include include breathing practices, relaxation practices, sensory clarification practices, acts of nonviolence, acts of compassion, meditation, self awareness or reflection, and the list continues to go on.

Yoga is a deep and unending discovery into the truth of true nature.

It originated from India, which is our founder Marla’s lineage.

our instructors, though come from the western New York areas of Buffalo, New York, Syracuse, New York, and Rochester, New York. We deliver these classes and yoga meditation, mindfulness, myofascial release, and training workshops, to businesses that have corporate wellness programs all over Western New York. We also serve a number of clients virtually from our home studios.
