November 20th is Transgender Day of Remembrance. Today, we take time to reflect on the work ahead to protect those who make up our community and to honor those we have lost. Creating a safe, affirming space at SJNC isn't just supportive; it's life-saving. Every patient, client, and neighbor deserves to feel seen, respected, and protected.

If you or someone you know would like to speak to a counselor for support, please call us at 585.325.5260.

Last week, our intern, Michelle, shared a very informative presentation on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) with our staff. She shared the different types of ACEs, how they affect children and adults, data seen correlated with ACEs, and how we can help.

Michelle has 24 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and has been interning with SJNC for the past 12 weeks to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Although her internship is complete, she will forever be a part of the SJNC family. 💜

SJNC Board Members pitch in in many ways. Dina Faticone (SJNC Board Member), Matt Strong (husband of Dina and owner of Quality Tree and Firewood), and their son recently joined us on a Saturday to help clean up the chopped trees and shrubs as we clear space for our Medical Outreach and Engagement Vehicle (MOE).

We are so grateful to have some helping hands on our outdoor project! The hard work really shows in the before-and-after photos.

Thank you Dina, Matt, and Logan, for taking the time on your weekend to help. 💜

At SJNC, we appreciate our many volunteers! Recently, a group of wonderful women of the Women's Club of Pittsford came in to complete an overdue project for us. We also have someone coming in on a regular basis to help with administrative tasks, which is a huge support during this time of year.

We are so thankful for their long-standing partnership!

Congratulations to SJNC's Development Coordinator, Yukali Okkotsu, on her award at last night's Association of Fundraising Professionals Genesee Valley Chapter's National Philanthropy Day Celebration!

Yukali won the Emerging Fundraising Leader Award, and we couldn't be more proud. She shared that, "seeing all the other fundraisers and philanthropists making a difference in our community is inspiring."

Please join us in congratulating Yukali!

Sometimes, the most powerful reminders of our impact come in unexpected ways.

A former client, driving an RRH lab pick-up vehicle, pulled up and honked to catch the attention of one of our staff members, eager to reconnect and share their journey.

This older individual, living with diabetes, had been released from prison without insulin and ended up in the emergency department. With no wait at SJNC, they were sent to us, and that moment became the turning point.

We provided continuity of care, helped them find a Medicaid-accepting provider, and stabilized their health. From there, they began seeking employment. Together, we built a resume, and each job they landed was a step forward, from Amazon to RRH Labs.

This is what it means to walk alongside someone - not just in crisis, but through transformation. 💜
