No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay; and there is a discounted/sliding fee schedule available based on family size and income.

November is American Diabetes month! The month highlights the importance of early detection, prevention, and management of diabetes and its complications.

Hope on the Horizon is committed to educating youth and raising awareness for diabetes. This month they had a speaker come in to teach the program about the warning signs of diabetes and how they can take action and be cautious in their own lives. They learned how to promote a healthy lifestyle and advocate for themselves and their families. Thank you to Arlene form the Alzheimer’s Association for taking time to present to our program!

Yesterday’s open house for New LIFE House was a success! It was an honor to showcase all the hard work and dedication our new staff has put in to creating a safe and inviting space here at the Villa. It was amazing to see some familiar faces and invite dear friends of the Villa to see the revamped New LIFE House!

New LIFE House is a 14 bed residential reintegration program designed to support adult men (18+) address the impact substance abuse has had on their life, while also teaching them important life skills. We are now accepting referrals for open admissions starting on December 1st!

We would like to officially welcome Sandy Kleinberg to our board!

Sandy currently consults across a variety of industries and specializes in enterprise architecture and data analytics. Sandy is a workshop facilitator and guides clients through a variety of activities like strategic planning, technology transformation, vendor selection and business intelligence implementations. Prior to consulting, Sandy was the Chief Information Office at Evolve Practice Partners and the Director of Business Architecture at Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield. Sandy currently works with various IPAs and Behavioral Health agencies across New York, specializing in population health systems and behavioral health EMRs.

Poyer will join attendees at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center on Friday, April 10th for a candid conversation about recovering from addiction and other behavioral health challenges to achieve physical and emotional well-being.

Now in his second stint with the Bills, Poyer is a former team captain and long-time fan favorite who has helped lead the team to six playoff appearances since 2017.

“We’re thrilled that Jordan Poyer will keynote our annual Portraits of Hope celebration,” said Villa of Hope President and CEO Carrie Carl. “Jordan will speak from personal experience about recovery from alcoholism, the importance of asking for help, and the power of hope.”

The annual Portraits of Hope event raises funds for Villa of Hope’s programs, which serve thousands of youth, adolescents, and adults in the Greater Rochester area each year.

The format of our signature event will be different from previous years. “Villa of Hope has reimagined Portraits of Hope,” explained Carl. “It’s no longer a gala, but an evening dinner celebration that brings our mission to life through heartfelt stories, community connection, and powerful conversation.”

You’re invited!

We are so excited to announce the opening of New LIFE House on Thursday November 20th. We have 2 openings for tours starting at 8am and one at 4pm. Come take a tour, chat with our staff, and learn about the program!

New Life House is a community reintegration program that is a step up level of care from Living Hope Treatment Center. Individuals are receiving the same amount of support as they would at LHTC, but with the freedom to come and go and reintegrate within the community.

Villa of Hope offers a continuum of care: LHTC 5-7 day detox > LHTC 21-28 day rehab > New Life House up to 9 months residential Community Reintegration program.

We’d like to officially welcome Robert to our board!

Robert K. Davis is an accomplished senior executive based in Victor, NY, with extensive global experience in driving transformational business development, strategic planning, and systems-enabled re-engineering. He has a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to implement change management initiatives that enhance productivity and achieve over 15% improvements in cost, quality, and delivery. Robert is skilled in aligning technology with business strategies to facilitate digital transformation and operational excellence.

Currently serving as Chief Information Officer at APC since October 2022, he spearheads digital initiatives leading to increased efficiency, supply chain optimization, and enhanced security protocols. Previously, Robert held senior leadership roles at Xerox Corporation, where he managed global business systems, process re-engineering, and strategic IT initiatives, delivering substantial cost savings and productivity gains.

He holds an MBA in Manufacturing Technologies from Rochester Institute of Technology and completed executive education at Harvard Business School. Robert actively engages in community service as the founder of the APD Memorial Fund and serves on multiple local boards supporting community and health initiatives.

On October 29th, Living Hope Treatment Center threw a pop up fashion show to celebrate Sonya and her time here at Villa of Hope. Sonya shared that making clothes is a skill she cultivated from her mother and grandmother. Throughout her years of addiction she would find times to pull herself into her passion of sewing. She shares that sewing would come from her pain, hurt, and disappointment. At times when she couldn’t afford fabric, she would grab the sheet off her bed and start creating. “I came close to having my own fashion show and make over 50 outfits in 10 years. God didn’t see fit that it was my time. But NOW is my time.”

The outfits shown here were made during Sonya’s stay at Living Hope Treatment Center, all without a sewing machine! Her talents were fully celebrated this day and we are so proud to be a part of this moment. Thank you to Sonya for sharing her story with us and blessing us with her beautiful works of art. We’d also like to highlight our incredible staff who made this day possible!

Over the weekend we were so honored to be a part of such an incredible day celebrating community and the grand opening of at Greece Ridge Mall!

Shoutout to Boscov’s for dedicating a part of this day to local nonprofits! We were grateful to share this moment with our neighbors and celebrate what a wonderful community we have.

Also a huge thank you to for their continued support of the Villa and other incredible businesses in the community. We love to support our neighbors and promote engagement here in Greece!

Fire Safety Trailer Visit – Learning Through Experience

Villa of Hope students recently took part in an engaging, hands-on Fire Safety Training provided by the Barnard Fire Department. First, we started with a Career Journey about the work of a fireman and the education needed. During Physical Education classes, students rotated through the Fire Safety Trailer, where firefighters demonstrated what to do in the event of a home fire.

Through this interactive experience, students practiced:
-Feeling doors for heat before opening them
-Staying low to avoid smoke
-Safely exiting a simulated home
-Establishing a family meeting spot outside
-Calling 911 and reporting an emergency clearly

This real-world activity gave students valuable practice in making calm, safe decisions during an emergency — lessons that can help save lives.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Dean and the Barnard Fire Department for bringing the Fire Safety Trailer to our campus and sharing their time, expertise, and commitment to safety.

We also extend sincere appreciation to our Physical Education team — Jeff Kozak, Liz Thomas, and Dontae Carter — for guiding students, and supporting this important learning experience.

Together, this partnership helped our students not only learn about fire safety but also practice leadership, responsibility, and community awareness in action.
