Today, we pause to honor and thank all who have served in the United States Armed Forces — the men and women who have protected our nation with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication.

At Marcella Manor, we are especially proud to have served many Veterans over the years. Their stories, strength, and resilience continue to inspire us daily. We are grateful for their service and for the opportunity to provide care, comfort, and community in return.

Life at Marcella Manor is never boring — and always full of growth (and laughs)!

Remember when Kaylan started on overnights and told us she couldn’t cook? We sure do!

Fast forward to today — she’s baking like a pro (and we didn’t even have to replace the microwave this time! 🤣). These new oven mitts were a small ask to support her growing kitchen confidence and keep things safe in the Marcella Manor kitchen.

We’re proud of you, Kaylan — proof that a little humor and a lot of heart go a long way! 💜

🍨✨ Making Sweet Connections at Marcella Manor ✨🍨

Marcella Manor is so much more than caring for the elderly — it’s about connection. Whether it’s connecting residents to special memories from their past or helping staff connect with residents through shared experiences, those small moments are where the magic happens.

Today, the boss lady showed our team how to turn a simple dessert into something beautiful — because even a small scoop of ice cream and a twist of pastry can make someone feel extra special when it’s made with care. 💜

It was amazing to watch the smiles and pride on our staff’s face as they saw what they were capable of creating — proof that a little creativity and heart go a long way in brightening someone’s day.

Tuesday was an unforgettable day of emotion, gratitude, and joy as Shannon had the honor of serving as a guardian on an Honor Flight with 84 U.S. military veterans to Washington DC. 🇺🇸

Watching these heroes visit their memorials and then return home to a proper welcome was truly moving. At Marcella Manor, we’re reminded daily of the sacrifices veterans have made and the importance of honoring their legacy with respect and care. 💙

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Nation 🌟

From the very beginning, Marcella Manor was founded on a vision: to grow leaders from within and help our team members become not only stronger professionals, but better people for the world.

Nation has taken that vision and run with it. For the past 2 ½ years, she has brought dedication, compassion, and a bright spirit to our community. Alongside her daily work with residents, she is pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences and working toward becoming a Licensed Assisted Living Director.

This summer, Nation was honored with the Doug Beardsley Scholarship through Care Providers of Minnesota — an award named after a long-time advocate for senior care across our state. It’s a recognition of her hard work, her commitment to learning, and her dream of one day owning a facility like Marcella Manor. 💜

We couldn’t be prouder of Nation — not just for her accomplishments, but for the way she pours her heart into her work every single day. Her story is a reminder of what’s possible when we believe in people and invest in their growth.

🌟 Life, much like the turning of the seasons, is a cycle of growth, change, and renewal. Autumn invites us to see the value in transition: the leaves remind us that there is grace in letting go, beauty in transformation, and peace in embracing the present. At Marcella Manor, our residents spent the first day of fall painting leaf canvases—art that captures the spirit of the season and the wisdom it reflects. These canvases remind us that, just as nature flourishes in every stage, so too do we find meaning, purpose, and joy in each season of our lives. 🧡🍁

Patriot Day — September 11, 2001

Today we pause together as a community to remember September 11, 2001. We honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders who showed courage beyond measure.

Though this day was marked by tragedy, it also revealed the strength of the human spirit — neighbors helping neighbors, strangers becoming family, and a nation coming together in unity.

At Marcella Manor, we hold these memories close to our hearts and give thanks for the resilience, compassion, and hope that continue to inspire us.

It’s that time of year again — backpacks, notebooks, and new beginnings! Our staff heading back to college were all smiles as they posed for their own “back to school” pictures.

But why let the fun stop there? Our residents wanted in too — sharing their own career days by holding up signs telling who they were in their working years. From teachers to tradespeople, caregivers to community leaders, their journeys are a reminder that learning, growing, and giving never really stop. 💜

🇺🇸 Honoring Those Who Served 🇺🇸

At Marcella Manor, we believe deeply in honoring those who paved the way before us — especially our nation’s veterans. Many of our residents and their families carry incredible stories of service and sacrifice, and it’s important to us that they feel seen, appreciated, and celebrated.

Our “Boss Lady,” Shannon, is honored to have been chosen as a guardian on an upcoming Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. She will accompany a veteran as they visit the memorials created in their honor and receive the recognition they so deeply deserve.

This mission is close to her heart — many of Shannon’s own family members have proudly served (pictured here). 💙 You may even recognize one of them — Marcella Manor’s very own veteran, Curly.

✨ How you can join in supporting these heroes:
• Write a letter of thanks: Handwritten notes are delivered to veterans during the flight — a gesture that often becomes the highlight of their trip.
• Welcome them home: Join us at the Rochester airport the evening of their return to give them the “Welcome Home” they never received decades ago.
