Update regarding the Rochester Area Autism Association! (Formally RT Autism Awareness Foundation)

๐Ÿ’™ Big News from Us! ๐Ÿ’™

Over the years, our work has grown and so has our community. What started as a mission to raise awareness has blossomed into something deeper: empowering autistic individuals, supporting families, and strengthening our community together.

With that growth, we felt it was time for our name to reflect who we are today. Weโ€™re excited to share that RT Autism Awareness Foundation (RTAAF) is now the Rochester Area Autism Association (RAAA)!

As our community has become more aware and understanding of autism, we wanted our name to make it easier for families and individuals to find us and to feel welcomed and supported from the start.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us build a more connected, inclusive Rochester area. ๐Ÿ’™

Stay tuned as our new website is under construction, but you will start noticing changes on social media as we head in this new direction!

We are gearing up for our first parent support group meeting of the school year! Please consider joining us in-person on Thursday October 23rd from 6-730pm at the Rochester Center for Children as we welcome Amanda Callies and her son Daniel Callies. Amanda will be sharing a parent perspective, having raised two children on the autism spectrum who are now young adults. Daniel will be sharing his lived experience as a young adult with ASD.

We look forward to seeing returning families and welcoming new participants! You do not need to have a child enrolled in our program to attend, this group is open to anyone in the autism community. Please feel free to share this email with anyone you know who may be interested.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. To Register, please email Stephanie at StephanieJohnson@RCenterforchildren.com or call the Center at 507-424-3234

Our campers spotted some sneaky bears walking around RCC! ๐Ÿป After an adventurous walk and fun gross motor activities, they fueled up with tasty sโ€™mores. We got creative with marshmallow fluff, graham crackers, and chocolate! Using our hands or utensils, we explored all the sticky, sweet fun together.

This summer, we started a Food Explorer Sensory Program!

Through playful, hands-on activities, kids are encouraged to engage with food using all five senses: sight, smell, taste, touch, and even sound! By making food exploration fun and pressure-free, we are helping the kids build confidence and curiosity around trying new foods. This week, the kids had the opportunity to build tacos!
