The parent support group this month at The Rochester Center for Children will be on Thursday December 18th from 6-730pm.
If there is enough interest, we will also be hosting a sibling workshop during this time for kids 6+. Additionally, we will have childcare available on a very limited basis for kids age 2 and up.

The group will be led this month by, Stephanie Johnson, and focus on behavioral strategies that can be used in the home. There will also be time for parent-led discussion.

Please note that childcare fills up quickly.
RSVP required to attend but you do not need to be enrolled in our program.

🎃 What a spook-tacular day! 👻Costumes, pretend play, and Trick-or-Treating practice made for so many smiles. 🦇 Looking for signs, knocking on doors, waiting and taking turns gave us the perfect chance to practice social and communication skills in a fun way! 🎃

Update regarding the Rochester Area Autism Association! (Formally RT Autism Awareness Foundation)

💙 Big News from Us! 💙

Over the years, our work has grown and so has our community. What started as a mission to raise awareness has blossomed into something deeper: empowering autistic individuals, supporting families, and strengthening our community together.

With that growth, we felt it was time for our name to reflect who we are today. We’re excited to share that RT Autism Awareness Foundation (RTAAF) is now the Rochester Area Autism Association (RAAA)!

As our community has become more aware and understanding of autism, we wanted our name to make it easier for families and individuals to find us and to feel welcomed and supported from the start.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us build a more connected, inclusive Rochester area. 💙

Stay tuned as our new website is under construction, but you will start noticing changes on social media as we head in this new direction!

We are gearing up for our first parent support group meeting of the school year! Please consider joining us in-person on Thursday October 23rd from 6-730pm at the Rochester Center for Children as we welcome Amanda Callies and her son Daniel Callies. Amanda will be sharing a parent perspective, having raised two children on the autism spectrum who are now young adults. Daniel will be sharing his lived experience as a young adult with ASD.

We look forward to seeing returning families and welcoming new participants! You do not need to have a child enrolled in our program to attend, this group is open to anyone in the autism community. Please feel free to share this email with anyone you know who may be interested.
