Neva Jean Benson

Neva Jean (Leeming) Benson at the age of 82, of Rochester, NY was called home to heaven to her eternal dwelling with the Lord on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

Neva was born in Rochester, NY on October 28, 1943 to John (Jack) & Gladys (Grotzinger) Leeming. She graduated from Irondequoit High School and SUNY College at Oswego. Neva started out as an elementary school teacher in the Rochester City School District until she stayed home to raise her children and then re-entered the workforce to teach in the Greece Central School District for many years before retiring in 1999 to enjoy the life of a grandmother.

Neva’s life was transformed when she came to God by faith through Jesus Christ in her early 50s and she has been serving Him since! She has been actively involved with the kids’ ministry at her church, Grace Road, in Rochester, an active member of the Community Bible Study held at Pearce Memorial Church and serving in the summers at Camp Li-Lo-Li! She was known for her kindness and generosity by all who had the pleasure of knowing her!

She was the loving wife of Gary Benson for over 59 years! She is also survived by her two sons, Jeffrey (Carrie) Benson and Jonathan (Shona) Benson and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her immensely and will miss her greatly. She is pre-deceased by her parents and her sister.

Friends and family are invited to remember her life at a memorial service at Grace Road Church in Rochester, NY on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 11am with a short reception to follow. There will be an opportunity for visitation with the family at the church beginning at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, we request that you consider donating to Camp Li-Lo-Li.

2 Corinthians 5:1–8

For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Jim and Lin shared stories of their youth, had meals together, and spent time together!Linda proudly came from a large family! She was raised primarily by her mother Evelyn and had seven siblings. She was the sixth child of Evelyn and Knute Korneliusen and was always very grateful to have the love and companionship of her brothers and sisters. Lin and her mother shared a deep bond that only grew stronger with the passage of time. Because she came from such a large family, she had many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved and with whom she shared many happy occasions. She enjoyed family get-togethers and loved to play board games, dominoes, and Boggle with anyone who stopped by to visit. She loved to read novels and she would crochet blankets and often present them as gifts to people she loved.Linda lived in Irondequoit for most of her life. She worked at Star Market in the bakery and then at Casey's Hallmark for many years before retiring. One of Lin's greatest pleasures was the birth of her grandson John! She expressed often her love of seeing and spending time with him and of the endless games of Sorry that they played as he grew up. She idolized him and thought the world of him! Lin spent time living in Florida with Tracy and Terry where she was able to enjoy the sunshine and special times with the two of them, make lasting friendships with the neighbors Jeff and Sue, and creating lasting memories that she spoke of often.Lin spent her final years at St. Ann's Home in Irondequoit. Our family wishes to thank the staff on the second floor for the care she received! We especially wish to recognize the efforts of Felicia, Chloe, Rene, and the best aide in the world, Krystal! James David Backus

James David Backus passed away peacefully on November 24th 2025 from an undetected heart condition. The news of his death sent shock and pain to many in the Webster community and beyond. James is survived by his beloved parents James Michael Backus and Britany Marie Backus as well as his adored sisters Gianna and Kiley Backus. Grandparents David and Christine Gulisano. Karen and James Backus. Aunts and Uncles Brandon and Samantha Gulisano. Alex and Monica Gulisano. David and Katie Bryant. Billy and Amanda Backus. Cousins Hailey and Joseph Gulisano. Shelby and Charles Gliatta. Colin and Landon Bryant. Chase and Stella Backus. Predeceased by Great Grandparents James L and Loretta Backus. Marilyn Curry.

James was born July 28th 2011 to James and Britany Backus. From day 1 James was always a smiling happy boy determined to be on the move. At 8 months old he was already walking and running so from there on he was always on the go. James loved to play and watch sports, specifically Football and Basketball. His all-time favorite football team is the Baltimore Ravens. In his younger years he always needed to be outside throwing the football or shooting hoops playing PIG. As James grew old enough he played Jr Warrior/ Jr titans football and Northcoast Basketball. Next up was modified football and basketball. In the last year he was on some amazing teams with amazing coaches and teammates. His modified basketball team went undefeated 14-0 and then this year his freshman football team went undefeated 8-0 and they made history for Webster Schroeder's best freshman team to date. James ended up with 10 touchdowns 2 of which were pick 6’s. Even though James had an epic season he was more focused on his teammates then himself. He was always the first to celebrate with whomever had just scored for the team. James loved uplifting his teammates and always had positive things to say on his way home after the game instead of talking about what he contributed to the game or what may have gone wrong. James had the gift of making you feel heard and cared about. Whatever you were going through he would intently listen and try to be helpful however he could. This is one of the things that was so special about the time we all had with James. So many great conversations with his dad while they worked out at the gym together and at home before bed coming into his parents room to talk about life and everything else with his mom. James also had his nightly conversations with his sister Gianna and made sure to mess with Kiley before finally going to bed. The closeness of James and his sisters was nothing short of amazing. There was plenty of teasing but much more bonding. James wasn’t just a brother he was also their best friend. This closeness with others didn’t stop in the house. The connection he had with his cousins was beyond what most experienced in life. They all care for each other as if they are siblings and would do anything in the world for each other. Though most lived in the Carolinas it didn’t matter because they still stayed connected through facetime and many family vacations. As we have come to learn James was also a true friend to many. James wasn’t the type to make anyone feel left out or not good enough to hangout with. No matter how close of a friendship those had with James he showed love equally to everyone. It's evident the light James had shone so bright others could feel it and still do. In his short 14 years James left such a positive impact on his family and others that will last forever.

We will have the Celebration of life for James Saturday December 6th at 3pm. Location is Northridge Church 780 Salt Road Webster, NY 14580. All are welcome to join us.

L. Gordon "Gordie" Booth

L. Gordon “Gordie” Booth of Pittsford, NY passed away peacefully in his home on November 17, 2025, at the age of 80.

Gordie is survived by his son, Kristian (Tracy) Booth; daughter, Jennifer Booth Carlson; grandchildren Jacob, Haleigh, Benjamin, Grace, and Lillian; sister Jackie Holdren; and nieces Kelly Polizzi and Kara Holdren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly fifty years, Susan Booth.

Gordie earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, completed his MBA at the University of Michigan, and later earned his Master’s in Teaching from SUNY Brockport.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1974, achieving the rank of Specialist 5 (E-5) with an Expert Rifle qualification and serving in high-trust technical roles.

Gordie spent 30 wonderful years at Eastman Kodak Company, building lasting friendships and creating meaningful experiences with his family, including time spent living in Europe. After taking early retirement, he returned to what he loved most—teaching. He taught 7th and 8th grade math and physics at Barker Road Middle School for 11 years and often said he taught not because he needed to, but because he wanted to be there. He had a gift for making any subject engaging, and students loved the days he stepped into their classrooms.

Gordie was a man of quiet strength and steady presence. A single look from him said more than raised voices ever could. He lived with deep loyalty, put his family first, and was the one others turned to in difficult moments. There was no problem he couldn’t solve and nothing he couldn’t fix. He cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren, sharing his love of the outdoors with them. He loved skiing, sailing, and spending time on Canandaigua Lake—one of his happiest and most peaceful places.

Gordie was generous in every way that mattered—loyal, warm-spirited, and quietly funny. He loved his wife Susan dearly, cherished his children and grandchildren, and remained close to his sister, nieces, cousins, and lifelong friends. He always made time for the people he loved and always put others first.

The Booth family extends heartfelt thanks to Michelle Lezo and her dedicated care team—Tom, Felicia, Shanice, Dallas, Ebony, and Adrienne—for their devoted support throughout his final years, ensuring Gordie received the dignity and compassion he deserved. To all caregivers not listed, your kindness and care will never be forgotten.

A service honoring Gordie will be held at Whitehaven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, on Friday, December 19th at 11:00 AM, with a gathering and refreshments to follow.

James "JR" Napoleon

James Franklin Napoleon (JR), 61, of Kendall, New York, passed away peacefully on November 26th, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: family barbeques, tending to his garden, caring for his chickens, fishing, hunting, fixing anything that was broken, and more than anything, spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. They were his pride, his purpose, and the center of his world.

His favorite place besides his own backyard was an annual stay at a close Family friend's cottage, full of family, friends' memories and a slew of laughs. The place for all to come together to reconnect, create new memories and have a blast! All were welcome. JR loved his family and friends deeply.

He was a Loving Husband, Son, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend

He was a hardworking man (his hands showed that), a skilled and dedicated Master Mechanic, of 47 years. JR helped countless people through his work, often going above and beyond to lend a hand. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

JR had a special way of lifting spirits with his humor. His unique sense of comedy—sometimes subtle, often mischievous—had a way of giving everyone around him a well-needed giggle.

JR was preceded in death by his Father, Frank (Jim) Napoleon, his brother, Chad Napoleon, his Grandparents, very Special Aunts and Uncles, Nephew, Garrett.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Tracy; his children, Jimmy and Felicia (Donald); his loving mother, Darla; his cherished grandchildren, Paetyn, Blake, and Makaela; his beautiful nieces, Angela and Cassie (Ben), great nephews Beauden and Lincoln; In laws Claudette(Bill), Mike(Kathey), Judy, Gary, Patty, Vickie and all of their extended families. Aunt, Uncles, many cousins, many friends, and customers who became family.

JR did not wish for a traditional funeral, but rather for his loved ones to come together in joy and remembrance. At a later date, the family will hold a Celebration of Life at his home with close family and friends—a place filled with memories, love, and laughter to honor the incredible man he was.

He will be missed beyond measure and remembered forever by all who were blessed to know him.
