Our next Recovery Coach Academy is coming up in one month, kicking off at the end of January. Now's the time to get your application in and mark your calendar! 🧡

The training is available for both individuals in recovery and allies of the recovery community interested in completing the course to learn more about the peer recovery specialist field, and how they can support others.

A beautiful story of hope and the profound impact that can happen when people support one another.

Thank you Mayo Clinic for sharing Cedric's story, and his life-changing interaction with Cheryl Laugen, an incredible peer leader at Recovery Is Happening.

Partnerships and connections like these stitch together our community, create a safety net for people, and enable interactions that can lead to truly life-changing outcomes. 🧡

Recovery is possible!

Seven years ago, Cedric Weathersbee was homeless, out of work and struggling with alcoholism.

Then he met Cheryl Laugen, a peer support specialist, in the Emergency Department at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. As she listened to Cedric, Cheryl brought the compassion of lived experience.

"There was no judgment. There was no telling me what to do," says Cedric. "Cheryl instilled hope in me that things could be better. She motivated me to try to move forward."

Cedric is now nearly six years sober and serves as the men's program manager at Doc's Recovery House, a sober living community in Rochester, Minnesota.

With Christmas right around the corner, we're in full Holiday mode over here at Doc's House (especially with all of our 'Eat, Treat, and Be Merry' events this week!) 🎄

One of our annual traditions is a special Christmas Eve meal, followed by Christmas morning brunch & giving out gifts to our amazing residents. It's important to us that our community at Doc's feels the warmth, love and family nature of the Holiday season, and with your support, we've been able to make the Holidays special for the last 6 years. ❤️

This year, thanks to a generous donation a few months ago, our women's gifts are complete...but we're still looking for gift card donations, and donations for our men's Christmas bags.

Thank you to all who joined us at 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off on Thursday! Congratulations to our reigning champ, Tonya (chili #1), who took home the title a second year in a row! 🏅🗳️💯🏆

Such a fun day and a great way to beat the cold weather. 🌶️ We can’t wait for next year’s competition!
