In honor or Administrative Professionals Day, we’d like to shine a spotlight on someone who spends a lot of time behind the scenes and in front of a screen making sure everything runs as it should.

Meet our very own Joyce Tabanas.

Joyce has been a part of our team for almost a year now. She oversees the majority of back end tasks, handles a number of HR responsibilities and also assists our marketing team.

If you've communicated with us over any digital platform, it's likely Joyce has had a hand in it.

While most of her work isn’t necessarily seen by many, she’s an important part of how we do what we do and we wanted to take a moment to recognize her.

Welcome, Brittani! A NASM CPT who is our newest team member with an incredible story. She has lost over 130 lbs., transformed her life and changed careers so she can help others take control of their lives as well.

When asked how she made this amazing change, she said, “Sitting myself down and having a vulnerable, HONEST conversation with myself was one of the best things I have ever done for myself.

“Two years ago, I looked at myself in the mirror and didn’t recognize the person staring back at me. When I sat myself down, I took time to figure out who I was internally.

“I learned that my external representation of me had NOTHING to do with my worth or value.

“I learned I was the only one who could define those things myself. I took accountability for the behavior that led me to be my unhealthiest, weighing in at 297lbs (December 2021).

“Today, I admire my past self with compassion and pride. Weighing in at 165 lbs (February 9, 2023), I have learned so much more about myself and overall health and wellness than I ever thought existed.

“I have since dedicated my life to encourage and support others amidst their own personal health and wellness journey’s as a Certified Personal Trainer.

“I know what it’s like to look in the mirror and want more for yourself. I know that it takes hard work, dedication, patience, love and discipline to conquer your fears and achieve your goals. You can do anything you put your mind to if you want it bad enough.”

We are looking for individuals who have active training certification, desire to make training their full-time career and have a passion for working with clients one-on-one to help them achieve their goals.

Our facility is located downtown in Village Gate Square and is easily accessible to clients all over the Rochester area.

If you're an experienced trainer who has struggled to fill their book or maintain a consistent paycheck we have marketing strategies in place to help grow your clientele. We offer competitive pay based upon knowledge, experience and work ethic.

Job Expectations
• Maintain an active training certification from an accredited organization (NASM, ACSM, NSCA, etc.)
• Maintain active AED/CPR
• Design safe and effective individualized training programs
• Create macronutrient-based nutrition plans tailored for each client
• Always be punctual, present and personable
• Build relationships, have fun and always be learning

Application Requirements

• Must be available at least 20 hours per week to start
• Experience preferred but not required
• Bonus points if you currently have 5 or more clients

👙🏆 Shout out to our lovely member Jessika who just competed in her first body building competition!

Jess took 1st 🥇 in one of the Novice classes and placed top 5 in both debut and open. 🏅🏅

She's been working with our Training Director, Brent Bareham NASM CPT, PES on and off for almost 5 years. She's very busy as a working mother mother and full time student.

Her dedication to following the regimented process of "show prep" inspires and reminds us all that if you really want to achieve something you won't find the time, you'll make it!

Originally from Pennsylvania, Denise moved to the Rochester area 10 years ago and has continued her love for physical fitness.

She has always had a love for running and cardio, but when that wasn’t enough she turned to lifting weights. After seeing the personal benefits of strength training she realized she could help others better themselves in the same way.

When she is not in the studio helping people build the bodies they crave, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, running, and really “any activity that involves being outside.”

Throughout her years of experience she has seen the vast positive impact that physical fitness can have on someone's life.

Her best advice for training?

“Just show up. The hardest part is showing up. Once you actually get here, your trainer can help guide you through all of the hurdles involved in starting.”

Studies have repeatedly shown that plant based diets can reduce your risk of heart disease; but do all plant based diets have the same effect? Additionally, do you truly have to cut out all meat for your hearts sake?

The answer is complicated for heart health protection, your diet needs to focus truly on the quality of plant foods. It's also possible to benefit by reduction, versus elimination, of animal products.
