We support the Nationwide Shutdown 1/30, but will remain open to provide acupuncture to folks who need relief. All acupuncture on Friday will be at no cost. We won’t be taking payments, or spending money. We hope our stance has always been obvious.

Acupuncture in the U.S. has always been deeply connected to political activism, resistance, empowerment, and social justice. If you want to learn more, read about Miriam Lee, Mutulu Shakur, the Young Lords and Black Panthers at the Lincoln Detox Center, about NADA and about POCA. Community Acupuncture exits as a way to address health and economic disparities and to expand access to acupuncture. Opposing fascism and ICE and harmful U.S. policies is the only appropriate response from acupuncturists today. F**K ICE.

Acupuncture is a process and takes time to have an effect. It works by stimulating your body’s innate healing response. The number of treatments for you depends on how much support that healing response needs. Most people will progress over a few common stages of treatment: Relief, healing, and maintenance. To achieve the best results from acupuncture, you need to have it done frequently enough to result in progressive improvement consistency is key to success. Everyone is unique and has their own rate of healing, but here are some helpful guidelines to maximize your results with acupuncture. Many people continue coming for acupuncture after they have gotten relief for general wellness. No matter how much acupuncture you want or need, we have space for you!

2016 RCA was 8 years old, and we were extremely busy in our Village Gate home. Our mission is still the same—making acupuncture accessible and affordable for our communities. A lot has changed though. We’ve been in our beautiful new home at The Park at Allen’s Creek, we are offering sound healing events, and facial acupuncture. We are also only seeing about 1/3 of the patients we were 10 years ago. 2020 really changed things for small businesses, and folks have less access to disposable income than before. One thing that hasn’t changed is our need for community, our need for safe spaces, and our need for acupuncture. Some thing’s change, some thing’s stay the same.
