Last night was the kick off event of the Connection Series that Winthrop SATS and Counseling Services will be hosting every semester. It was a speed friending event where students were able to meet and connect with others they may otherwise never have crossed paths with. Caffeine and anxiety can be a chaotic duo.
Caffeine doesn’t just wake you up, it also raises cortisol, your body’s main stress hormone. Even when you’re sitting still or just thinking through your to-do list, caffeine can trigger a stress response. If you’re prone to anxiety, that extra cortisol can make you feel more on edge than you expected. Sometimes what feels like “anxious for no reason” has a reason.
