Has anyone ever tried black garlic?
It’s super easy to make, but it takes some time and patience to develop. Dr. Brian had his batch on a warm setting in a crockpot on his covered deck (Dr. Iva made him put it outside 🧄👃) for 4 weeks. This is the first batch that he has made, and it turned out pretty good.
It has many of the health benefits of raw garlic, but the benefits are SUPERCHARGED with the aging process that causes a “Maillard reaction”. The result is a sweet mollases/balsamic taste that is almost candy like. If you have never heard of black garlic, check out some of the benefits below!
Key Health Benefits:
Rich in Antioxidants: Higher levels than raw garlic, fighting oxidative stress and cellular damage, protecting against chronic diseases.
Heart Health: May lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides, increase good cholesterol (HDL), improve blood flow, and lower blood pressure.
Immune Support: Its compounds enhance immune cell activity and help regulate responses, fighting infections.
Anti-inflammatory: Contains compounds that reduce inflammation, potentially benefiting chronic conditions.
Blood Sugar Control: May help regulate blood sugar levels and prevent diabetes-related complications.
Brain Health: Antioxidants may protect brain cells, potentially slowing neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's.
Digestive Friendly: The aging process softens harsh compounds, making it easier on the stomach than raw garlic.
You can make your own batch, or save some time and buy some that is already made or get it in a nutritional supplement capsule form. Give it a try!
