First year WWAMI student Carlos Garcia presented his research about cancer-ghosting (losing friends after disclosing a cancer diagnosis). This can have profound effects for patients when they lose access to social support systems. Mentored by Dr. Jennifer Stephens from the WNA Board Secretary, his research uses an analysis of internet social media posts to explore the prevalence and effect of losing friends to cancer ghosting.

First year WWAMI student Carlos Garcia presented his research to the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees this week! Carlos conducted a qualitative study about cancer-ghosting (losing friends after disclosing a cancer diagnosis). This can have profound effects for patients when they lose access to social support systems. Mentored by Dr. Jennifer Stephens from the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing, his research uses an analysis of internet social media posts to explore the prevalence and effect of losing friends to cancer ghosting.

Congratulations Carlos and thank you for representing WWAMI so well!
