Early childhood education is crucial to the lives of children and families.

Shared services as a concept in early childhood is a fairly new, as in I’ve been engaged in work in NJ since my now 14 year old was a baby and that seems like it was just yesterday, and ever growing approach in the field.

What does this mean? There are two arms to shared services- the ECE Shared Services Platform and the work of Alliances. In NJ we have both at at work.

Do you use an ECE platform already?
If not you can find one in your state today.

Are you engaged in an alliance? If so you are engaged in the building of crucial network development and the growth of our field.

I’m excited to share more about both parts of this work and so much more about shared services.

ACNJ and NJ are working to reimagine child care.

Over 40% of workers in childcare centers and home-based child care programs identify as people of color, and almost 50% of unlisted, home-based childcare providers are people of color.

In addition to providing child care, home-based child care providers like Kayanna often act as a resource and provide additional support to their communities, even while being underpaid and under-resourced themselves.

Supporting home-based child care promotes equity for children, families and providers.
