The holidays are over and there’s still a lot of winter left.

But winter doesn’t have to be dreary and isolating. There can be bright spots too.
When the little glimmers in winter are hard to notice, we can create our own.

My favorite weekends at home include a few hours of heat, cold air on my skin, and phones down.

If winter is already feeling long, remember that you don’t have to wait until spring to feel good again.

✨ January weekend bookings are open
Bring the Wildflower mobile sauna home and turn an ordinary winter weekend into something restorative.

Weekends are limited. DM me or book through the link to claim a January date.

Where will the Wildflower go next?

Wishing you warmth in the darknessšŸ”„

Top moments for Howl at the Moon Sauna Co. in 3…2…1…

1. That time news crashed a sauna session at the World of Winter Festival opening party

2. Couch surfing all the way to Minneapolis to host and help out at Sauna Village, meeting new sauna friends along the way

3. The windiest and most invigorating and high energy sauna sessions EVER, which was also our first sauna at the Parks with and

4. Trekking up to Traverse City with the Wildflower for the blustery first annual hosted by and

5. Self guided NYC bathhouse tour with Mr Howl at the Moon, inspiring my dream of hosting place-based thermal bathing travel experiences. Included stops ,

6. Our fall residency at the Detach property alongside the dreamy yurt and picture-perfect pond, and the most stellar fall sauna weather you could dream up.

7. That evening when Taka and his showed up and the next day we threw a midweek Tiny Japan sento festival with all of our besties and their kids in attendance

8. When the wildflower made it to Bathe-ing DC thanks to and and the epic weekend that unfolded hosting sauna alongside an incredible team of sauna guides, aufguss masters and sauna-preneurs.

9. The Nordic Nights Sauna Experience, an epic sauna event that enabled nearly 100 locals over 4 days to experience the joy of sauna- and the freedom of being downtown in the middle of it all in your bathrobe.

10. And one of my personal favorites- the slow summer (which was the point of starting this whole venture in the first place). We took our foot off the gas with the Wildflower and I enjoyed the summer with the kids- from the pool to the beach and back a million times over.

None of this happened alone. So as we step foot into 2026, I want to express my deepest gratitude to all who have been a part of the journey, whether it was for one session, or for the long haul.

Thank you šŸ’–
Alisa

Let’s make 2026 the year where we face those hard truths about what’s holding us back from being our most healthy, wholesome and well- selves.

It’s time we stop pretending that it’s all about physical health and balance, because it’s a little more complicated (and raw) than that.

2026 can be our year we elevate our collective wellbeing, together. Are you in?

Thanks for being here.

Story time… My daughter says that I don’t have a real job- and these are all the thoughts that bubble up inside of me when I hear her say that.

A part of me hurts when I hear it, but I have no regrets and hope she understands as she moves into her first REAL job someday, whatever that REAL job may be.

Why do I host?

I host because spaces for belonging matter.

And I get so much joy from creating these spaces where people can feel at ease and talk, laugh, sit quietly, or just breathe, without overthinking any of it.

And maybe I too crave these spaces in our community. And when they don’t exist, I create them myself.

But hosting and creating this container, even if just for the evening, is not simple.

Hosting is care work. It takes attention, presence, and intention.

Watching how people settle in. Making sure everyone feels welcome, comfortable, safe.

And while it isn’t always easy, I believe it’s deeply meaningful.

Yeah, it’s work.
There are long cold nights, lots of heavy lifting and hours of building and then taking it all away at the end of the night, and all the planning and details most people never see.

But when people feel held in the moment, happy, safe, cared for, lose track of time, and free their minds, even if for an evening- that’s always worth the effort.

As I diver deeper into the depths of my own obession with bathing culture, all this time in the sauna has provided me with opportunity to reflect on a number of things. One of those has been children and bathing, or the absence of their presence in modern bathing spaces.

Thanks to Culture of Bathing for publishing my feature on the "School of Steam" where I share life lessons in the sauna and what we all can gain about bringing kids back into bathing culture.

Not to brag… (I mean, maybe just a little) but I purchased this sauna tent with a wood pellet sauna stove from Overland Sauna and spent the afternoon assembling it. The fire rips like no other tent sauna out there, and fills the tent with firelight so beautifully. The benches are gorgeous too.

I think I’m in love! šŸ˜

Today the Wildflower mobile sauna arrived in Grand Rapids as a special guest for a group of friends gathering to share dinner, laughter, and a little heat in the spirit of Friendsgiving.

Whether it’s a warm meal or a hot sauna, (or in this case both) heat has a way of bringing people together and connecting us. It softens what’s rigid, invites in presence and reminds us that being human is something we can do together. šŸ’œ
