At this year's Dining in the Dark event Nov. 13th, attendees will be able to purchase artwork created by some of our low vision and blind patients. A few of the art pieces are shown in the photos to give an idea of their excellent work. All proceeds benefit the Center for Sight & Hearing to keep services at the lowest cost possible for both our Vision and Hearing Clinic patients.

Our popular fundraising event Dining in the Dark is coming up on Nov. 13th at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Rockford. Attendees will enjoy a delicious four-course meal blindfolded, with the chance to experience what it is like for a person with little to no vision perform everyday tasks such as eating and drinking.

In addition to dinner, there will be featured speakers, an interactive white cane obstacle course, 50/50 raffle, wine pull and a live auction of items created by our deaf and low vision clients.

Happy Hour begins at 5:30pm. Tickets are available for $85 each or a table of 8 for $600. To sign-up visit cshil.org/dining. We hope to see you there!

Today we celebrate White Cane Day! In 1964, a joint resolution of Congress proclaimed Oct. 15th as White Cane Safety Day. This day is meant to recognize the achievements and independence of blind people.

The Center has restarted daily Walk-In Hours for Hearing Clinic patients. The goal is to quickly address device function or discomfort. A full hearing exam will still require an appointment due to the amount of time needed to perform a complete test.

Daily Walk-In Hours:
Monday 10:30am - Noon
Tuesday 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Wednesday 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Thursday 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Friday 8:00am - 9:00am
