This week we would like to shout out our Director of Employment Services, Jeremy! Jeremy has been with RAMP for nearly 20 years, making massive impacts on the organization such as helping develop our Employment Services program. Thank you for all you do Jeremy!

Image description: Text says "After graduating from NIU I’ve been working with people with disabilities in the Rockford area for 25 years with most of that time focused on employment issues and working to overcome those barriers. I started at RAMP 19 years ago as a Traumatic Brain Injury Case Manager, with the opportunity to work closely with and learn from some amazing people. A few years later, RAMP started our Employment Services program and I played a big part in developing and planning that. Since then, I have overseen those programs as well as continuing to expand to meet new needs in our community including bringing Project SEARCH to our area. I am grateful to continue to work with a great team of dedicated RAMP staff.”

Congratulations to our Board President, Lafakeria Reuter, on winning the 2026 Professions Award at the YWCA Northwestern Illinois Leader Luncheon.

Lafakeria's leadership, passion, and commitment to individuals with disabilities reflects not only in her work with the Winnebago County States Attorney's Office, but also with us here at RAMP. We are grateful for her guidance and continued support.

In honor of Black History Month, we are highlighting influential Black people with disabilities. This week, meet Lois Curtis, a legal advocate for disability rights. Lois Curtis is most famously known for the LC vs Olmstead case, which ultimately led to accessibility to disability services in the community rather than in an institution.

This week, we would like to shout out our MercyHealth Project SEARCH Employment Specialist, Keke Wells! Keke has been with RAMP since 2023, working tirelessly at our MercyHealth site to help open opportunities for success for all Project SEARCH interns. Her work does not go unnoticed, thank you for all you do Keke!

Image description: Text says "My interest in working with adults with disabilities started in 2019 while working as a paraprofessional in the Rockford Public Schools. Being passionate about building independence in the disability community is what led me to RAMP in 2023. As an Employment Specialist, I play an integral role in instilling job skills that can lead to lifelong career success for the young adults I serve and support.
Working with Project SEARCH has had a significant impact on not only the interns, but with myself as well. The program has consistently opened doors for individuals in the workplace and beyond, and it is incredibly rewarding to be a part of that. Watching them take the lessons learned from the classroom and the department, and applying them in real work settings, leads to positive outcomes for all those involved in Project SEARCH."
