Gerrie Gustafson always found time to help those in need.
For 33 years, Gerrie served as director of Communications and Marketing for OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center, until she retired in 2009. But she didn’t sit idle in retirement. Gerrie served on many boards and contributed to various organizations and events including Junior League of Rockford, the Rockford Arts Council, New American Theater, the Rockford Art Museum and many more.
One of her favorite projects was serving on the Mayor’s Hunger Luncheon committee. Because of her unwavering support, Gerrie, who died earlier this year, was remembered at this year’s luncheon. In honor of Gerrie’s memory and her service to help feed people in need, OSF Saint Anthony made a $10,000 donation at the luncheon which helped the event reach its financial goal.
“It’s the right thing to do,” says Ryan Duvall, director of Ministry Giving for the OSF HealthCare Foundation. “Gerrie was a fantastic representative of OSF Saint Anthony, who gave selflessly of her time and talents. This donation is symbolic of the generosity Gerrie displayed throughout her life.”
Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara was moved by the generous gift.
“I want to sincerely thank OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. If it’s caring for patients during their most urgent time of need or assisting during major crises in our community, OSF always steps up,” says McNamara. “This immense donation of $10,000 will literally help hundreds of families in our community. I want to give a sincere thanks to the entire OSF HealthCare team including the administration, doctors, nurses and staff.”
