Be a clearinghouse for information on humor and laughter as they relate to well-being. Disseminate information about humor and laughter to its members through regular publications and educational opportunities such as the Humor Academy. Develop, promote, conduct, and identify the need for research that further investigates the roles humor and laughter play in well-being. Encourage, support, and report on innovative programs that incorporate the therapeutic use of humor. Function as an interdisciplinary network for its members. Provide a caring, supportive, community of humor professionals and enthusiasts.

We’re excited to celebrate our 2025 AATH Doug Fletcher Lifetime Achievement (DFLA) recipient, Dr. Ron Berk, whose long-awaited deep dive into the science of laughter has just been published!

A few years ago, at the AATH Orlando conference, Ron delivered a keynote that explored 50 years of laughter research — reviewing more than 400 studies. Now, Part 1 of that incredible work is officially available!

If you’ve completed an evidence-based qualitative or quantitative study in the last five years and served as a primary researcher or primary member of the research team, we’d love to see your work.

Offered by the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor (AATH), this three-year fellowship celebrates the life and vision of Jill Poole Knox, who believed that humor can help build peace and understanding across communities.

Fellows receive:
🌟 Full tuition for AATH’s Humor Academy
🌟 Annual Conference registration + travel stipend
🌟 AATH membership & professional mentorship

Who can apply:
🎓 Students or professionals working in peace studies, peace education, or conflict resolution
