One of the scariest things that I have ever done was completing my 200 hour yoga training. I went into it with my typical “You’ve got this” confident mindset. That confidence was never undermined, but it was definitely challenged, as my teacher saw me, recognized fears and insecurities that were blind spots to me, and guided me in shifting my perspectives and habits to allow me to experience growth in areas and ways that I would never have imagined. It was hard and it was scary, but it was so worth it!
An in-person training assures that your teacher sees you in ways that are not possible on line. When sharing space, your teacher can readily recognize how you are receiving the information, when a new approach is needed, when “you’ve got it” and it’s time to move on, and where or how you will benefit from being pushed to try something new. I have never taught the same training twice. I am constantly tweaking my curriculum and lesson plans to meet my students where they are at.
If you are considering a yoga teacher training and can’t decide if in-person or on-line training is for you. Consider if there are any fears that may be keeping you from meeting in-person, and how overcoming those fears might enrich your experience and your life!
