About every 5 years I shift. I feel the need to do something that will be a little different. Perhaps I’m just used to it since I’ve moved many times in my life but I also feel that it’s helpful to our nervous systems to continue evolving and shifting. I feel like it’s a way to stay curious about our full potential by re-arranging our lives now and then. It’s a beautifully simple practice to gently and comfortably open our everyday habits and routines to keep ourselves flexible and adaptable.
I’m happy to be sharing my massage studio with my dear friend Angel Hunt. We call ourselves WOMBMATES ❤️in our relaxing healing massage studio on Rockland harbor. It’s a high contrast building in that it is a working wharf and there is often a lot going on around our small studio space.
However, healing intention can be felt in all kinds of spaces. Ultimately, with practice we are able to bring it everywhere with us!
What small shifts can you make in your life this weekend to create a healing space for yourself? Create some Mystic Alchemy for yourself!

you know why I love fairytales
because they tell the truth.

the story doesn’t tell us
what happened to Red
in the wolf’s belly.
it doesn’t tell us
what happened to the girl-woman
as sleep spun around her
like thorned thread.
it doesn’t tell us
what Persephone touched
in the underdark
before she rose with seeds
in her mouth.

those parts are mysteries
unique to each body,
each life,
each time a woman loses and finds
her own skin.

we both know
the subterranean
doesn’t always have a language.

sometimes we wait in the dark
like seeds that forgot spring,
like skins shed
and buried in sand,
like threads knotted
and not yet rewoven.
we wait
and wait
and do our invisible work,
unsure if it works.

sometimes the medicine tastes bitter.
sometimes it shatters us apart.
sometimes there is nothing
but the ache itself.

sometimes the soul
lays down dark passages
to unravel us
so we can re-thread ourselves
back into wholeness.

and then one day
not always with a kiss,
not always with a lover,
but maybe with the brush
of our own wild selkie skin
against our cheek,
or the tug of an ancestral thread
from beyond
we remember.
(The kiss in a fairytale
is that wild remembering soul
waking us up to something truer)

we rescue ourselves.
we cut the knot.
we stitch the torn edges.
we weave again.

and BOOM.
the loom resounds.
the chrysalis splits.
we stumble, crawl, swim,
rise winged, scarred,
and more whole than before.

not a polished “happily ever after”
but a return that looks like
where we began
and yet is utterly altered.

we stand barefoot on earth,
solid, fierce.
stitched with gold,
threaded with story,
re-membered with ancestors.
we bloom into something
the dark made possible
our scars not flaws
but the embroidery
of our true beauty.

For the first time in NASA's 66-year history, women outnumber men in an astronaut class. The 2025 cohort of 10 candidates -- six women and four men -- represents a watershed moment in space exploration, marking a dramatic shift from the all-male Mercury Seven crew selected in 1959. Vanessa Wyche, director of NASA Johnson, marked the occasion, observing: "Representing America's best and brightest, this astronaut candidate class will usher in the Golden Age of innovation and exploration as we push toward the Moon and Mars."

The six groundbreaking women bring remarkably diverse expertise to NASA's ambitious missions. Dr. Lauren Edgar, a geologist from Washington, spent 17 years supporting Mars exploration rovers and served as deputy principal investigator for the Artemis III Geology Team. Anna Menon, a biomedical engineer from Houston, already made history as part of SpaceX's Polaris Dawn mission, setting a new female altitude record at 875 miles above Earth. Rebecca Lawler, a former Navy lieutenant commander from Texas, accumulated 2,800 flight hours across 45 aircraft and flew as a hurricane hunter for NOAA.

Dr. Imelda Muller, a former Navy undersea medical officer from New York, brings expertise in anesthesiology and operational diving medicine. Erin Overcash, a Navy lieutenant commander from Kentucky, logged 1,300 flight hours including 249 carrier landings and trained with USA Rugby's national team. Katherine Spies, a former Marine Corps attack helicopter pilot from California, brings over 2,000 flight hours and experience as a test pilot and flight test engineering director.

NASA's 10 new astronaut candidates were selected through a rigorous process that began with applications opening in March 2024 and drew more than 8,000 applicants from across the United States. The selection process itself took roughly two years to complete, culminating in the candidates reporting for duty at NASA Johnson in mid-September where they immediately began their intensive training. After completing nearly two years of preparation, the 2025 class will graduate to join the agency's active astronaut corps, becoming eligible for flight assignments supporting future missions to low Earth orbit, the Moon, and Mars.

Congratulations to all the members of NASA's new astronaut class!
